Pretty sure it's the other way around. The Orokin called the Zariman kids "freaks" and "demons" all the way up to the last few years of the Old War. It was only after they gave the kids military-grade Warframes (as opposed to the cannibalistic prototypes seen in the Rhino Prime codex) that they started using the codename "Tenno"

In the second dream, the void echos of Margulis refer to us as survivors from transport Ten-n0 or Tenno. When the Lotus is asking you what you remember from before the big sleep your character - the operator, the Tenno - can talk about your experiences aboard the ship and how the Children of Zariman had to band together to survive and the feelings of being called Tenno after the ship's designation. The Rhino Prime codex entry occurred after this most likely. As we were still a solitary confinement separate from others but near enough to the technocyte research labs for a Proto-Rhino to chase (or be lured by) researchers there.

That's exactly my point. The children were "devils from Zariman Ten Zero", "rats", "freaks", "demons", etc. The slang term "Tenno" didn't come about until very late in the Old War, after they'd already become a myth to the general populace and gotten their Warframes. The possible dialogue option in Second Dream do not even include the word "Tenno" for this very reason (I just looked the transcript up; your Zariman kid cannot at any point speak the word "Tenno" when talking to Lotus)

Now, factor in the fact that Zariman kids have total amnesia of Zariman until they unplug from their Warframes. This is because the player never got to see Zariman Ten Zero, only the Zariman kid did.

A Tenno is more than just a Zariman kid holding a remote control. It's a symbiosis, two entities sharing one body and fighting as something greater than the sum of its parts. It's that symbiotic being, that Tenno, that the player controls

The History of this universe have reached breaking point.

Up untill now DE have had a very big freedom to invent past Events. The few Codex hints and Prime Lore together with Synthesis,  make up allmost all of the known facts.

Second Dream made it clear that the warframes are biotechnolocal surrogates, used by children aboard the Colony Ship Zariman 10-0. But the timeline of all Lore we know of is a jumbled mess and a tangled ball of yarn.

DE have no choice but to cut out everything that do not fit, retcon what they have to, and give us one timeline and brach out from that.

The fact that Technocyte once ravaged Earth, that Tenno was a term used as propaganda before the Orokin Empire, that Stalker was once a Guardian, the Infested s point if origin - all of these are things that have no order and are hard to even understand.

Alot hated that tenno are kids in a pod, but at least now we know. DE made a descision, a point of no return.

It is time for another.
