Does ashe melee wep matter?

Some people are telling me that any mod you put on your melee weapon adds to bladestorm, and that the weapons base attack speed affects how fast you attack in bladestorm? Can someone please help me. Tell me what affects bladestorm and gives it damage. Thanks!

Body count for melee mult timer and attack speed mods for quicker animation speed. So having Spoiled strike would have a negative affect on BS. While speed mods affect BS the base melee speed of the weapon doesnt. Finisher dmg mods do not affect BS and neither does anything else.

The only mods I'm aware that affects it is Body Count. By increasing your melee combo chain it will increase the damage of Bladestorm.
