Fun fact of the Day: Doom 4's original project

That video was supposed to be Id's new DOOM game before they decided to scrap it because it looked and felt too much like Call of Duty and Battlefield. They scrapped the entire game because they wanted to make a recapture the feeling of playing a Doom game which is the one we have now.

Even worse, DOOM was intended to have a reload system.

I've seen more footage of this game years ago when the first concept art was leaked.
and it looked much better than what that video makes it out to me.
From what I've heard was that the whole development team was a mess and the game wasn't really fun.

Ehhh... Our doom now looks so much better. It has the actual Doom feel to it. That one looks like it's trying to become something it's not, a nitty gritty, edgy, dark-as-no-pun-intended-hell CoD/Gears of War mix. I didn't even see a single demon in that trailer... Looked nothing like Doom.

 

Yeah. I'd take our current Doom 4 over that any day.
