6 Ruby_Rose_
To get Access to Focus, you need to complete The Second Dream cinematic quest. The Second Dream can Only be access by Completing the Prior Quest, Natah. Natah only requires you to be Master Rank 3, and have scanned a Oculyst Drone on the Sealab Tileset (Uranus). You will need a. Archwing to have access to this tileset. So completion of the Archwing Quest is mandatory, but not a perquisite.

To add to this, the wiki says that the Desdemona sector has a higher likelihood of spawning Oculyst Drones, though really, it's all in the hands of RNG. 0 Vox_Preliator
With as few spoilers as possible: On Uranus, there will rarely spawn a floating blue thingy, you'll definitely know it when you see it, scan it with a Synthesis or Codex Scanner. Also, you must be Mastery Rank 3 or higher for them to spawn. This will begin the Natah quest, play through it. Once complete, The Second Dream quest becomes available. Play through it, Focus is unlocked at the end. Edited May 18, 2016 by Vox_Preliator

If you have access to Uranus, go there (different missions) and keep going around the mission until you see your screen flicker blue and white followed by a strange howling noise. Run around (I did the first survival mission a few times) and keep your eyes peeled for the blue object (you'll know it when you see it). MAKE SURE YOU have a synthesis scanner or a codex scanner equipped. Once you scan the target successfully, get to extraction (once available) and you'll get a notification/mail which will start the quest called "Natah". YOU HAVE to complete that quest BEFORE you can start The Second Dream. That'll start ONCE YOU COMPLETE Natah. Hope this helps :)

-2 Wopel
Do the Second Dream quest line, at the end you get access to the schools of focus. Choose Naramon and farm focus (use appropriate lenses) to apply to the school and unlock it's prerequisite node and then apply to Shadow Step.
