Question about focus

I chose the Madurai school and it seems to split into 4 paths phoenix gaze master, chimera breath, phoenix flash, and blazing fury. Am I only able to choose 1 of those paths?

no, you can unlock them all and with enough focus farming, use them all. The drawback is that for each talent in the path you unlocked that is active, the wait time to activate it goes up buy 45 seconds. Most players either focus (haha) on the passives, or the active ability first.

Yep @GrimKonstantin hit the nail on the head and you can of course use the cooldown reduction mastery but it will only reduce by about 45-60 seconds at maximum rank, which costs you alot of focus.
Oh and each focus node you unlock costs you another focus 'way' which will cost you focus too...

### Disclaimer: off-topic ramblings incoming ###

Now, which Focus you use is of course completely your choice,
however, just in case you weren't aware, Zenurik and Naramon are,
with very good reason, the most popular Focus schools.

Zenurik's Energy Overflow passive gives ridiculously strong / useful Energy regen
and Naramon's Shadow Step makes you invisible on critical Melee hits
(if you've not played a perma-invis Loki before, lemme tell you, invisibility in Warframe = OP as ****).

In comparison, Madurai "only" gives you damage.
Nice, sure, but ultimately not as useful / versatile as the above two
(or Vazarin, yay free self / Squad / Companion / Objective healing and stacks of insta-revives).

Again, just an FYI to maybe spare you some regret,
not least over possibly spending 40 Plat on the "wrong" Greater Lens or something, heh.
