How do I rank up my Mastery?

Well, the title explains it all. What is the actual mean by which I can level up my Mastery rank. Everyone says XP but IT IS NOT GUYS; YOU CANNOT RANK UP WITH. It's not based on affinity either. I needed a little over 15000 MR points to rank up, I did a mission and earned about 100k XP on each weapon and guess what? I needed 5000+ MR points to rank up my mastery; I thought it was a bug so I did some missions and after I checked it I needed 721 MR points to rank up; then I wondered if it was based on affinity, I tried to earn some and earned a little over 3000 and when I went back to check my profile guess what? I still needed 721 MR points to rank up. so, I want to ask WHAT IS THE ACTUAL MEAN BY WHICH I CAN RANK UP MY MASTERY.

Thanks guys; you might think that I'm dumb fot not googling but I've read that page 3-4 times on my mobile; The wikia site for mobile skips the part where it explains how to rank it up.

Yeah, the Warframe wiki is kind of a hot mess.  Best enjoyed on a desktop/laptop with NoScript.
