Plain vs Steam accounts

I just noticed this:

and it got me thinking about the two ways to play on PC. I currently have a plain or non-Steam version.

1. Can you transfer accounts between the two?

2. Advantages and disadvantages between the two?

I have both versions installed, its the same account. Theres no linking involved of any sorts, just you have to download the game via Steam for it to work through Steam, nothing else.

Your account will still work whether you have a steam-based warframe or not. The only thing you have to do is download the game within steam and you can just login like normal, and keep all of your stuff. And you then benefit with steam sales and steam workshop skins!

2. The only advantage of the Steam version currently is the Tenno-gen cosmetic items. Other than that, I see no advantage or disadvantage between using either one of the two.

I linked my plain game install to steam (not an actual transfer, so I can play with both and only have one install) just so I can see the Tennogen stuff.

2. Only real difference I know of is the Steam achievements and Tennogen.

All you do is log in. Like with any MMO that is available to download through Steam, you just log in.

 

There isn't an account difference. You just handle the game files through Steam.
