0 Insizer
No, because they have different versions of the same game. PC is nearly always an update or two ahead of Console.

Its due to the platforms not wanting to allow cross network play because doing so reduces their potential profits as well as requires specific hardware information to be shared that they would rather keep in a proprietary state. Phantasy Star Universe died pretty quick due to that reason.

Cross play happens for other games... For this game it is not going to happen.

Crossplay happened for PSU, Defiance... can't think of many more off the top of my head but hey. Sony and Microsoft would have had to share such information in order to achieve multi-platform crossplay.

What about FFXIV? That's currently cross platform between PS4 and PC. Why? Because they operate off the same build.

Actually it is a major reason. Console updates take much longer due to testing required by the console makers. PC... not so much. The only ways you could have cross-network play (assuming the console makers agreeing) are: If all platforms were first synced in terms of updates and then if every single update/hotfix have to go through simultaneous testing and such. If compatibility patches are rolled out with every hotfix/update. These patches would also require official testing and approval. So, yeah... what you mentioned is only part of it. Literally, it's the same build thing. They woul dnot be able to roll a build to anyone until it had passed all of the ceritification and testing for both companies. It would slow deployment and add a bunch of dependencies to the process and increase cost. it could be done - it will not be done. I heard a rumor that we were going to get transferability Soon(tm) but - that may never hapen too.

That pretty much says it all right there ^^ The different build is a issue as by the time we get the build PC already has a new update but they could figure out someway around that I'm sure.
