If you hacked one and has the survivor, the portal will be changed to another one if some one in your team changes the portal direction by hacking another console, closing the portal with the survivor (failing the mission). To free the prisoner one must hack one console and enter the portal, if the prisoner is not inside said portal... try again. I actually prefer this, gives people a reson to be careful and not jsut rush all. Thou they should make it them beeing able to be re-hacked at any time. Also when you hack the correct console which leads to the hostage, typically the hostage will call out saying: "I'm in here." or "Help!" When the portal containing the prisoner is opened, there'll always be a voice line from the prisoner announcing his presence within that portal (Something along the lines of "Hey! I'm in here!"). You then have to enter the portal to rescue the hostage (Simply opening it isn't enough). As NecromancerX69 said, if you all hack the consoles all at once, you're simply going to pass over the correct one and screw yourself over.
