I'm Making A Sentinel Minigame - Any Suggestions?

Okay, so for those of you who don't know, I'm the developer behind the Warframe Utility Android app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ezardlabs.warframe), which currently does everything that the official app does, and a fair bit more as well (damage calculator, hacking minigame etc)

 

So basically, one of my next additions will be a Sentinel minigame of sorts, seeing as how loads of people have been asking for that. DERebecca has given me the go-ahead for this, so I'm not breaking any copyright laws or anything, which is good to know :-)

 

Anyway, I need suggestions as to what you'd like to actually happen in the minigame

I currently have a working prototype where you fly a little Dethcube round and can shoot stuff, but other than that I'm kinda stuck for ideas

 

PLEASE don't suggest anything extremely complicated or highly detailed (remember that it'll be running on Android devices), and please don't suggest that I make some Corpus models, animate them and have them run round and shoot you or something - my skills don't extends that far

 

So yeah - suggestions please :-)

 

EDIT: Just to clarify, the minigame is 3D, so you don't have to limit your ideas to 2D :D

 

EDIT: Okay so here's where I'm up to:

Basically Sentinel Mario Cart

All Sentinels will be able to shoot other racers (obviously)

Dethcube can zap other racers

Wyrm can stun other racers and knock them back

Shade can make it itself invisible to other racers

(so basically just like in Warframe)

Sentinels will be upgradable

 

Please note also:

Android 2.2 is required

Decent hardware specs will also be required

An ARMv7 CPU is required - if you're not sure if your device has this, then do a bit of Googling :-)

Hungry Hungry Wyrms - survive the wyrms

 

Shady Shades - stay cloaked and complete some type of objecitve

 

Dethly Dethcubes Dethmachine - somekind of turret section thingy.

 

 

 

Now thinking this would be like a Mario Party thing, different types of mechanics every mission you do.

 

Kinda like Raid, Sabotage, Defense have different objectives

A tower defense would be awesome. Or a pacman game with a sentinel instead ! Like, if a ghost (Maybe a roller) comes close you can cloak every 10seconds or something? Instead of collecting cheese or w/e, you have to go through this grineer maze, and solve consoles.

Chronicles of the Shade

"You are a Shade sentinel. Escort the Tenno to the exit keeping him cloaked from nearby enemies."

 

The challenge is to always keep the Tenno safe within cloaking-radius. If he is not cloaked enemies will aggro and quickly descend upon him. You would not need an actual Shade - your finger would control the circle that is the cloaking area. I found the realisation amusing that our poor sentinels are in fact stuck in an everlasting escort mission - lol.

Just make a left-right/top-down shooter, with angry angry Corpus drones flying past which the Dethcube has to shoot down and dodge. Maybe implement an online Leaderboard or something. DEFINITELY allow the drones to drop mods which affect your firepower or attack type a la weapon pickups :D

 

In terms of gameplay, sliding your finger up and down the left side of the screen controls movement, whilst pressing on the right side shoots. Collision with a drone loses a life or game over's. If you shoot a drone, recycle the drone over to the other end of the screen and at a random position again. Mayhaps segment the game into sectors or chapters, introducing drones which do different things, with varying combinations for their loadouts.

 

E.g. Shield Drones - No offensive power except for dethcube collision, but need to be taken out first before other drones can be damaged.

 

Mine Ospreys - Drop bombs on death which the Dethcube must avoid

 

Fusion Drone - Heavy Osprey. Shoots two streams of bullets in a V- angle, forcing the player to stay in front of the Osprey lest it take them out.

How about reboot of classic arcade game galaxian? you pilot sentinel below and fight off ospreys/moas.

 

Location: bases/terrains, with boxes serving as a cover.

Dethcube Super Sentinel: You move the Dethcube with your finger, and it auto-fires at a bunch of Grineer, Corpus or Infested, all with different attacks. Think bullet hell.

 

Enemies when killed drop some cash, and cash is used on upgrades or research.

 

Upgrades include Faster Fire Rate, More Damage, More Health, More Shields, More Vaporization Beams.

 

Vaporization Beams are one-time per level items that vaporize everything on screen. You start with one but can buy more.

 

Research is needed to change your bullets. You can research Cryo Rounds to slow any enemies hit and deal lots of damage to shields. Hellfire can't be on at the same time as Cryo Rounds, and it makes all enemies hit panic and shoot less. Light Infested take x3 damage. Then there's Stormbringer, which is excellent against Corpus and serves as a stun/damage. Finally, Piercing Hit is good for puncture and dealing damage to Grineer.

 

All research has a maximum of 10 levels, which are bought with money..

 

A level will have one of 3 factions: Grineer, Corpus or Infested. Another faction can jump in at any time and make your game hell.

 

Grineer enemies include Lancers, which are slow, heavily armored and shoot weak bullets. Troopers shoot bursts of 6-7 bullets at once. Seekers will deploy destructible grenades that you need to shake off or Nervos that will severely limit fire-rate. There's also Heavy Gunners, which shoot a huge amount of deadly bullets. Be careful.

 

Corpus enemies include Crewmen, which are lightly armored and shoot slow-moving, deadly lasers. There's also Prod Crewmen that throw shock prods at you that stun, and Shield Ospreys will float around quickly, shielding everyone. Techs have a deadly Supra that can easily kill you in one shot, but a massive reload time.

 

Infested enemies include Chargers and Runners, which are thrown by Ancients, and Leapers. Chargers will claw-barrage you if hit by one, while Runners will explode and deal some damage. Ancients are very slow, but they occasionally pick up a Charger/Runner and throw it at you. Ancients include Healers and Disruptors, which also have an incredibly long arm attack that can be dodged if you can see when they're about to use it.

 

Grineer enemies are almost completely immune to fire damage and normal damage, so it's a good idea to increase fire rate or use Piercing Hit on them.

 

Corpus enemies are immune to headshot hits, which are random and deal x3 damage. They're also decently immune to ice damage, but when shielded, they'll take x2 damage from ice.

 

Infested enemies are immune to electric damage and AP damage, and Piercing Hit won't puncture them. But they're x3 weak to fire damage.

 

I'll think of bosses later.

grineer pic move in and out cover. the player must tap to make deth cube shoot them.

shade - help tenno infiltrate!

excalibur walking, running shooting, and the slashing grineer/corpus automaticly.

the player must tap to activate shade ghost ability, so excalibur will safe from the enemies bullet.

sorry for the bad english. x)

ohh.. if you can, please make it available for 2.1. my android is kinda old.

I assume Wyrm is not included because no one uses it.. seriously, include it..

 

Wyrm - Dispersion

Help the Excalibur as it walks through a level of Infested, slashing them with his blade. Disperse the crowd by tapping Wyrm whenever there's a horde. The ability has a 2 second reload, so time your uses right! Don't let Excalibur get hit 3 times.

Wait, wait.

 

 I've got it.

 

 

 Make a Sidescrolling 2d Platformer featuring the Sentinels that works a little like Megaman! Each Sentinel has a different gun and special ability!

 

 Shade - Burst Laser is weak but has long range.

 

 Wyrm - Fires Three little laser blasts in a spread pattern with a medium range.

 

 Deathcube - Has a really rapidfire gun with medium range.
