Rotomtom
Spoiler At the end of the "sacrifice" quest the Lotus saves Ballas from the Tenno and Umbra. Before she leaves with Ballas She Says: "Drifting, gaunt beyond the bleak star... Mother... i am coming home." It is safe to assume the lotus is referring to the Tau system as her home. How she will get to the Tau system is unknown. But we do know the Tenno will do anything to get the Lotus back. If the Tenno were to attempt travel to the Tau system there would be several problems: The Tenno Themselves would fear the idea of trying to travel to the Tau system as that was how they became Tenno through the void-jump accident. The Tau system is very very far away(If the Tau system is based on Proxima Centauri [ The closest other solar system to our own ] it is 4.243 light years away). The Previous attempt to travel to the tau system ended in disaster with the Zariman Ten Zero being lost in the void for years. The construction a Solar Rail strong enough to send ships to the Tau system would be very costly. The Orokin were able to do it because they had access to the most advanced tech in the system and all of the system resources along with a massive cloned labour force. Concepts The Tenno could discover ancient Orokin blueprints for a much larger Solar Rail. The construction of which would require a vast amount of resources, this could be done through an event. The event would consist of all Tenno searching for pieces of the blueprints and either donating resources or by stealing large amounts of resources from Corpus and Grineer cargo ships. Once the resources are collected the construction would begin and after it is finished the Tau system would then be accessible. Once The Tenno reach the tau system the Nav console could be upgraded to include the new solar system. The Tau system could be given 2 to 4 accessible planets of varying design. New Sentients Enemies could be encountered. Large sentient ships could be used as enemies in new Archwing sabotage or persue missions. (sorry for the "Meh" image, its just give you a idea) The Tau System The Tau system could really add to the game as it is not based on our own solar system it could have any number of planets, dwarf planets and asteroid. The possibilities are endless. (If some or all of the information given in this page is inaccurate... well sorry)
ngrazer
Let me correct you on one thing: the very first attempt to jump straight to the Tau system was a failure because Orokin tried to jump through the Void without the Rail. However, during the war against Sentients, Warframes and some other unspecified soldiers managed to teleport to Tau just fine (Mag Prime codex). FLSH_BNG
The Tau System is most likely Tau Ceti, which has a spectrally similar star to Sol. More than twice the distance from our system as Proxima Centauri. And as such would be a better choice for colonization.

Remember, Lua (the Moon) was kept in the Void since the fall of the Orokin Empire to keep it away from Hunhow. Only the Void Compasses and Void Pendula kept it stable in the Void prior to the Stalker initiating a Void collapse in an attempt to destroy the Reservoir. Almighty_Jado
So let me start with a shameless plug Okay, so now that that’s out of the way, I would like to incorporate your idea for the construction of a solar rail to access the Tau system as a means to get to the Open World I’ve began to build. My idea would be that players can contribute resources to a global pool required to build a solar rail to Tau. Players would have all month to build the rail, and once the rail is built, the Tau system is opened to players MR 10 and up for 7 days (168 hours) before the Sentients destroy the rail and access to Tau is locked again. The Rail can be rebuilt again after 7 more days (168 hours) and the cycle continues! Since I will be likely using this concept in mine, you will be mentioned and credited in the main post as a contributor.
