TwevOWNED
Those from closed beta will remember a time before combination elemental types, where electricity, heat, and cold could be on the same weapon, and while combination elements are indeed cool, there is a certain appeal to the basics. Electricity in particular has always been my favorite, especially it's status effect, which sadly does not see much use as Corrosive and Magnetic damage are simply superior to base electricity. But what if there was a way to make base elements better? Introducing Isolator, Amplifier, and Projector mods, designed to bring multi base elements back into the fold with increased power, and be more effective with their cool status effects. The Isolator mods are simple. They separate the base elemental mod from the combination pool, allowing for Electricity and Heat to be on the same weapon for example without becoming Radiation. Max Rank Example: Electrical Isolator +60% electrical damage Prevents the electrical element on a weapon from combining with another element. Amplifier mods drastically increase the power of an element when only the base elemental damage is present, and even more so when there are no combined elements active on the weapon. This allows for base elements to do similar damage to combined elements. Damage increase is minimal if the base element is not present Max Rank Example: Electrical Amplifier +30% Electrical Damage + an additional 60% Electrical damage if base Electrical damage is present. + an additional 60% Electrical damage if no combined elements are present. (no gas, viral, etc) Note that this seems like alot of bonus damage, especially ontop of the mods in the game right now, and there is a reason for that, as base elemental damages do not gain a 75% damage increase unlike say corrosive or magnetic. With that factored in the total damage with an amplifier mod comes out below the damage of a combined element with a 75% bonus, but above a combined element without one. Projectors make status effects for an element occur over any other status effects a weapon could have. This eliminates for example an impact proc occurring over an element. Does not apply to combined elements. Max Rank Example: Electrical Projector +60% Electrical Damage Forces an electrical proc whenever a status would be triggered as long as Electrical damage is present. It should be noted that if say a Heat version of this mod were to be used, there would be a 50/50 chance of either a heat or electrical proc occurring. So yeah, my take on what to do with base elemental mods to make them be worth using over combined elements. I personally would like to see a use to electricity besides becoming Corrosive or Magnetic damage.
APBladeX
Yay. more mods that we won't possibly be able to fit on our weapons?
FoxyKabam
rather there be just a universal amp mod that when placed next to an elemental mod would boost it by w/e % with w/e effect you could have base electric mod, amp mod, and dual elemental/status/event mod to keep the weapon all in one element
White_Raven
I would rather have a "Link" function. Like when we put 2 or more elemental mod in a weapon, a small table will pop up and ask whether we want to link them together specifically or just leave them be, hence, single elemental damage is achieved. This can make weapon builds much more flexible.
BrazilianJoe
It was made this way to prevent rainbow builds back in the day and widely praised as such. I doubt this will ever be implemented.

Excuse me but we are shooting rainbow bullets atm. Nothing changed with dmg 2.0.
