hey here'a fun little thing to do.. type "who owns Digital Extremes" into google and see what pops up, might just give you an idea about why things are getting so grindy and why the devs are so adamant about not changing it. oh and here's proof just in case a certain mod want's to lock this because of "misinformation" http://leyoutech.com.hk/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/LTN20160926408.pdf  that's from Leyou themselves and here's the info from page five

" Under the backdrop of the strong financial performance and growth momentum of Digital Extremes, the acquisition of further 39% of Digital Extremes took place on 20 May 2016. The consideration paid by Multi Dynamic Games (a wholly owned subsidiary of the Group) for the 39% acquisition amounted to US$65,028,688. Following the 39% acquisition closing, both the common shares and Class B Special shares in the issued share capital of Digital Extremes are owned as to 97.0% by Multi Dynamic Games. The Group’s financial performance for the full year 2016 sets to benefit from the increase in earnings contribution from Digital Extremes."  DE does not own DE.

I was thinking about this myself, this explains a lot of things, such as DE promising the prime vault was a temporary measure, and.. well, the new owners see that system as a good way to make themselves more money, so DE *may* have intended to keep that promise.. but anyone want to bet their new owners give a *beep* about that?

I have played a few chinese mmo's, and oh **** are they grindy as all hell..

The "free" to play in them is really theoretical, and very much requires you to have no life

Extremely grindy things like this, make me worry that warframe is heading the same way.

Hanlon's Razor says:  "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity and/or misunderstanding."

I've used it to rationalise a lot of the more questionable decisions DE have made (Broken Lights, Sibear, Rivens and such), but I no longer believe that mistakes and poor decision making are an adequate explanation for things like this, particularly since this is the 5th and worst such requirement jump (Zephyr, Knux, Sibear and Vauban Prime being it's forerunners).

I realized years ago, that while Hanlon's Razor is well observed with people, it absolutely does NOT apply to corporations, their goal, is profit, not being helpful, and NOT being your friend, this is a good example of that I feel.

Occam's razor beats Hanlon's razor when dealing with corporations.

Man this is bad...... not the 5k samples but the backlash itself is insane to me.

This has happened every single time something that requires alot of resources (effort) is shutdown, lashed at,threatened and straight up told devs they should be fired just because they cant insta finish the research? because they have to try?

Is there somebody else that thinks this is fine besides me? id love to know.

    *snip*

EDIT: changed my mind, and removed the lines defending DE, no, just no, this is insane, and the line "Although we do not intend to make any changes, we appreciate constructive and respectful feedback." from DE Taylor:

Am I the only one that reads this as, "feel free to complain but you will be ignored"?

On the other hand, 5k mutagen samples? I play this game very obsessively, have 1418 hours played this year(ingame count), and I have less than 1 mutagen per hour played.. and I LIKE the infested areas, 5k is insane.
Mutagen samples drop in TINY amounts MUCH lower than detonite ampules and fieldron samples, and and our clan will NEVER gather 5000, this would take us close to a MONTH, of special focus on JUST this weapon... which isn't really that good..

This weapon is a plat-only item for me if it dosn't change.

So yeah, this weapon dosn't fill me the joy of "ooh, new content", this makes me feel like the plan is to milk me for plat, and us not having a realistic chance at this, isn't a coincidence

Mine is far worse than yours, with it being a LOT smaller now as well, huge fadeout bars cover an area that, well, isn't being used for anything else.
Scrolling is also bugged, and moves in chunks, not smooth, so it's much harder to actually search.
I understand if the ugly [MAX] thing is here to stay, although it looks out of place, in a "programming code in plain text" sort of way, it does take less space.

However I really hope the chunk scrolling and less visible area is not intentional.

Edit: GAH, weapon selection is the same, I have nearly every weapon in the game, searching by looking through images just dosn't work anymore with that heap in less visible space :(

Edit2: ok, searching around, the less visible area appears to be a 1440p scaling thing, and reportedly much worse in 4k.

  5. Here are my current pet peeves about WF, in a faint hope some of them might get fixed.

Awesome game overall, but not without it's share of flaws:

About the overabundance of relics if they all dropped, well, that would be because the entire same tier table drops in every location in the same way keys used to, if they did stop the vault nonsense and seeded all the relics into the game, they would simply have to make their drop locations less random, for example, make eris drop only, N* relics, and pluto drop the V* relics, and so on.
It would still be somewhat random, but not messy enough to require players to swap relics in trade hubs.

I really dont like the vault stuff in general, but it's clearly about profit, and not balance.
.. on that, DE, why is there no vault accessory pack? I would have bought an accessory pack already, but I already have all the prime items themselves, and really DON'T want extras, so I'm probably NOT going to buy the full package.  The main package is too, "bundled with rare stuff I already own" to be highly tempting to me.

On archwing, I still hate the new archwing, and I loved it before, my primitive little monkey brain just requires *down* to be a universal constant, and without it, I'm just confused all the time.. I really tried, and no, It's not getting better.. DE please give me my fixed *down* back.. :(
Plus, removing the item drops from archwing missions and giving them to syndicates, bad idea, the lack of proper mission rewards removed the reason to do most of those missions at all.

Grineer fire type attacks STILL kill me through walls in the derelict, this has been incorrectly marked fixed in a patch a while ago.

The alarm system I have long since started seeing as a boring little minigame that needs playing every 3 minutes or so.. it's very easy, even on high levels, and somewhat impossible to prevent on many maps.
It's kind of like living next to a huge parking lot in real life, alarms will happen, they will make annoying sounds and irritate everyone untill someone pokes it to make it shut up.. outside stealth missions(which have been nerfed to dust to prevent some old exploit) they just dont seem to have any point to them.

And last but not least, sapper ospreys.. they get incredibly annoying with scaling, in a survival sortie, a couple of sapper ospreys easily wipe the entire group in one tick.

  6. I had that happen with Lua challenge rooms while studying them.
Also had that happen once with a trinity/mesa combo, on some event or challenge defense map where we had to powerplay, very fast and efficient.. and the mesa player had no reason to move whatsoever, after one wave of not getting any rewards, the mesa player was quite annoyed to have to move regularly, JUST for the sake of moving, he had over 75% damage done, so him avoiding the AFK timer just slowed things down.

The solution seems easy to me, INACTION is the problem, the people that just jump in mission and walk away.
There ARE however a few reasons to stand still, depending on tactics.. so, just let us also avoid the AFK flag by getting weapon kills, or, successful(non-passive) ability use, and don't limit the AFK detection to ONLY movement(or lack thereof)?

  7. Nothing that's grindable is fun as a sortie reward.
Especially things like niatin, you only need a set amount of niatin, and then you never need any more, ever.
At the moment, I have 60 niatin, and have finished building everything in the game that costs niatin, so for me, that's now a "sorry, nothing this time, try again tomorrow" reward.
I suspect the explanation that most players have less than 9 niatin might fall apart, if you consider.. "do the players that run the sortie daily lack niatin?"

About kuva though, personally I don't really lack kuva either, just as I ignore all those niatin alerts, I also have as a standard, a lot more kuva missions available than I actually bother to run.. although I'm not cycling riven mods really.. I keep getting more useless niatin :(

Anything that's grindable, such as a rare resource, endo, kuva, niatin, and so on, is going to be unpopular as a sortie reward.
Items people don't complain much about getting, even if they are not useful, are the things that DON'T drop outside the sortie.
The endo is least painful as a filler reward as it comes in MUCH larger amounts than you can get from alerts.
The niatin, is not in those amounts, and I wont need niatin forever.

As a rule of thumb, if I can go fetch it in an alert, or god forbid, any time, in certain areas, it's NOT going to be popular as a sortie reward.

No idea about caches.  Fissures absolutely should have them so if they don't that is a big issue.  I don't think syndicate or sortie ever did tho.

I'm pretty sure some of them did, I got the last of the unique cache rewards I needed back in may, so I havent been going to the regular sab map sectors since, and yet, untill TWW, I still saw the caches as a standard in most sab variety special missions.

I get a bit OCD about hunting them down, so I definitely noticed the missions I run very suddenly not having the caches.

What if it's like: Wish granted, Riven mod slot hard cap removed, additional Riven storage slots now available for 20p per slot.

I'm pretty sure that's actually coming, it's not a question of IF in my mind, only when.

EDIT: hey, called it! Riven slots for sale now.. AT 20p per slot even..

I wish being cynical wasn't so damn reliable :(

  10. I have been trying to simply memorize every piece of gear that's retired, to avoid using those relics... honestly though, that's an annoying bit of work.. :(

I have the feeling this relic system is going to end up with HUGE numbers of retired relics, so I would preferred if they even got sorted differently, like my relic options would have seperate pages for "AXI" and then "Retired AXI"

Because in a year or so, the retired list is going to be WAY longer than currently active relics, and it's already starting to get annoying to search for specific weapon parts.

Bug: Spy fissures are not granting the spy vault rewards.

I'm guessing things like sabotage are also not granting cache rewards.

I'm not sure if sab caches themselves are broken, but somewhat recently, though before this patch, all non-standard missions stopped having the caches at all.

At some places in the void sab missions(alerts, syndicate and fissure versions) for example you can see lockers NOT spawn, which in regular missions always indicates a cache, but now there isnt any cache instead, the room in question will be fully empty instead.

So now, I just dont really find caches at all, ever, as the only place they appear now, are in regular missions, which I honestly have very little reason to do outside grinding specifically for caches..

  12. I get enough forma easily from relics, something I can grind for at any time should not be a reward from the sortie.

And oh god niatin, there's only so much niatin you need, and then you never need it again, pretty much ever.

Clearly game balance demands you cant get useful stuff every single time, but the endo I kind of liked as a filler, I never seem to have enough endo, at the moment, I could use about, 300.000 more endo, and, it's literally the only resource I have any shortage of.

Also why do riven mods have a cap? I have 4 of them already, it wont take me long at all to fill that cap.. :(

  13. The resize of the expanded map has the center way too close to the edge.

I lock map rotation because I find the spinning map confusing, and now, ever since TWW, this happens regularly:

    http://i.imgur.com/8exLyCZ.jpg

I use the expanded map to see more of the map, not as a zoom function, and it would be preferable to have the map ON SCREEN.

  14. I use the overlay map because i want to see more information than the minimap, NOT because it want it to show the same information on more of the screen.

    49 minutes ago, 3tomatoes said:

And wow this is a good example of the problem :)

Notice that you, on that screenshot, are almost on the right edge on the screen, now imagine trying to see the map info if you were on the left part of the map. It goes right off screen..

Is this map zoom level made for a TV screen?

I can imagine this working if I hooked my PC up to my living room TV and play from the couch.. this is however far too big for PC.

  15. I just had this way worse, on earth, Vay Hek assasination, 1/3rd of the map was off screen.

looking at your screenshots, your "after" looks like it was before for me, now, it's 2x that, this is WAY too big.. :(

also while I'm on this topic, a patch a month or two ago changed the map so that other players, are drawn above you and objectives, on the map, making it hard to spot exactly where YOU stand(with map rotation locked) and sometimes making it unclear where the objectives are.

I dont know how you think of the map, but for me, the location of other people, is not more important than where I am and where I'm going(which at this new map scale is also off screen a lot of the time)

To summarize: please add a scale slider to let us choose how far we want to zoom in the map, and I would be really happy if you fixed the object priority on the map along the way.

  16. Vaccum is being turned into THREE mods?

DE: lets face it, noone uses carrier because carrier is "fun" we use him because actually looting is boring and flow breaking, and having carrier lets us focus on the actual game.

This isnt really what anyone wanted, this just turns ONE mandatory sentinel into THREE mandatory mods, and it sounds like it's NOT coming to kubrows and kavats?

    Why not?
