  1. having my akboltos equipped was actually an accident. I meant to have my bronco on to level up.

Kind of right back at ya. I had a pistol + melee weapon equiped to level up, but then I switched warframe and somehow both my Dual Zoren and Akbolto got equiped again. I still don't know why the game decides to do that randomly.

  2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uranus

You learn something new every day!

But.. but.. I didn't read into it on purpose because it's boring and would defeat the humour behind it.. D:

OK, you got me, and I looked it up on the page.

Bode opted for Uranus, the Latinized version of the Greek god of the sky, Ouranos.

Curious who called that Greek god Ouranos Uranus in latin now, because how was that ever a good idea? No, can't be bothered reading a wiki page :D

  3. id be psyched for a dual option, unless it hits like a truck on its own. and to those who say we're being selfish for putting this out there, how would you feel about receiving polymer bundles instead of the pistol? im sure you would all be just as ready to defend the gift right? haha XD

That's still different though. I wouldn't be mad if they would give polymer bundles instead, but I would be dissapointed that DE would try and get exposure for a silly gift like that. The difference is that polymer bundles are 99,9% useless and take no effort whatsoever for DE to actually 'create', while a gift like the Lato Vandal shows they actually put time into this. And this is what we meant with the "it's the thought that counts.", seeing as DE tried to show appreciation by giving us something they put time into.

Yes, I realise you were more saying this as a joke, but I couldn't resist replying anyway.

I'm fine with people saying they would like to see a different reward or whatever. I just don't like the people saying they are not satisfied with this gift and want something else (read: better for them) instead.

I am still curious about the gun itself. I've run out of pistols to actually rank up and I couldn't think of a better one to continue with.

  4. Eh, I'm not thinking the ciphers are there for any purpose beyond adding a modest level of complication (not challenge) to levels. They're supposed to be quick 'n easy to solve. It's not how long they take once you're at the panel, it's the fact that you can't proceed until you (or somebody) runs to the panel and performs the unlock dance.

For that purpose, I think they're just fine as-is. IMHO.

Yes, I know this. As I said before though, even though they're there to root you in place, they could've been atleast slightly harder. As I mentioned before, even lowering the time you have before you fail a cypher would increase the suspense when you're hacking one with a few enemies around. I have around 8-10 seconds left almost every time. Decrease the time limit by 5 seconds and you bet it's going to be a slightly more interesting situation trying to hack a console. I did have a couple of times where I didn't even pay attention or misclicked 5 times in a row, and it did get more tense whenever I was nearing the 2-3 seconds left mark. I just think this experience should be occuring more often.

It's a slight thing and I'm sure I'm the only one that remotely cares. It's just that those small things give just that extra layer of thrill in the right situations.

  5. I don't think it's actually just rank 3 that's causing it. I had rank 3 before and my avalanche was detonating just fine. It was when I started putting in power range mods where the delay really got crazy. It doesn't really matter most of the time, but in defense missions it can make waves a lot longer. Other times though, it's convienent since it grants you a long time to kill the big guys, like Disrupters and even bosses.

  6. A puncture mod in Uranus. I had to laugh so hard when I found out.

Seriously, those sexual induendos about Uranus never dissapoint me somehow. I'm totally mature.

But who thought it was a good idea to call a planet Uranus? It's like they were asking for trouble.

  7. Wait till update 7, new weapon possibly and the removal of mods may change a lot.

Honestly, this. I can say how amazing the HEK or the Gorgon is, but if you're not in for buying more platinum for getting more catalysts, you might as well save your last one for this new gun that's going to be introduced at update 7. It doesn't help catalysts are still almost impossible to get through normal means.

If you really are impatient, both have their uses. I prefer the HEK but there's plenty of people that prefer the Gorgon. Player style is where it's at. Just make sure you don't regret your decision afterwards when update 7 actually hits.

  8. I actually had the similar experience when I started playing, AndyChanglee. A friend of mine was already in the beta for a while but basically had to start from scratch as well. He started out as a Volt and I started out as an Excalibur, but we both didn't like our warframes at all. So we tried to search for a way to get one that looked cool to us. 2-3 hours later, browsing the wiki a lot and looking at threads on here, we figured out it would take us atleast 2 weeks or so to get our warframe. So, we were hitting a brick wall.

On top of that, we didn't feel like leveling our warframes to rank 30 JUST to get a new warframe to level that one up from scratch again. I set my mind on Frost, and seeing as the boss that drops the blueprints for that is in a high level area, I was completely demotivated to even start playing the game.

BUT, turns out, we were wrong about a couple of things, that completely changes the perspective on how you start out on the game. One major thing is, leveling weapons and warframes is 40% of the game. It's not like 'starting over' with an entirely new character if you build a new one. Infact, it's only easier to level your second one because you also have leveled up weapons.

The other thing we misunderstood, which is related to what problem you're having, is the grind for items. We say we needed 500 materials from that in that high level system, 150 of that high leveled system, etc. We didn't even know where to start. Turns out, just play missions you CAN do and keep leveling your starting gear (as you already mentioned, your Cronus, Aklato and Burston). You'll see that once you get everything to a decent level, and you can start doing new systems, there's about 3 entire systems that have the same rank and skill requirement to actually finish after you break through that brick wall.

Now, if have that decent level you can actually slowly start doing missions which net you materials like Alloy Plates and other materials needed for the 'easy access' weapons. If you look in the system select screen you can see what resource drops in what system, so once you found a system you can finish AND drops the resource you need, do any mission you can do in that system. Keep killing enemies and keep smashing those containers, and you'll level up your current starting gear as you do this.

Based on my previous experience, looking back at my own start, I would start like this (simplified): Do all Mercury missions --> Do all Saturn missions but as soon as you can, try and start killing the boss on the "Tethys" mission. He gives tons of experience for a really low level and relatively easy mission. If you are hitting a brick wall before Tethys and want to gather experience earlier, go for Tolstoj in Mercury and level up there, to return to Tethys afterwards --> Once your warframe + weapons are a decent level (around 15-20), get a reactor on your warframe (which you already did) --> Move into Venus, which should be an absolute breeze now --> Since you've leveled up quite a bit, rank 2 should be in sight. Continue unlocking Venus and keep smashing enemies and containers. Alloy plates are what you're looking for! --> Hit Rank 2, get the Boltor. If you don't have enough alloy plates, keep doing Venus until you do --> Level up your Boltor at Tolstoj, and later on Tethys --> Use Catalyst on Boltor --> From here on out, expanding outwards should be an absolute breeze and you can lay out your own path, focusing on other guns/warframes like the Akbolto.

I chose for the Boltor in this path because on a low level it has a ridiculous DPS while staying fairly ammo efficient due to it's 100% native armor piercing, which means you don't need high level mods to get that same armor piercing. You could go for the Akbolto instead of the Boltor if you feel comfortable with relying on a pistol instead of a primary, and you're prepared to get an extra 100 alloy plates for the Akbolto (it requires 600, instead of 500 for the Boltor). Oh, and ALL bosses drop Orokin cells. So if you're leveling on either Tethys or Tolstoj, you'll get more than you'll ever need in the first place.

Do keep in mind, the above is with a lot of soloing in mind. While I struggled getting forward either solo or with my friend, some other people joined in the game and got to leech off of us. This made them capable of skipping a LOT of boring leveling AND they got credits faster through selling mods, which made them capable of getting some starting weapons (Braton is very strong early on). I do think it's a lot more satisfying to wrestle yourself through the beginning content, but you do have to have a certain mindset to actually undergo the process like that. If you aren't up for that or you don't have the time to do it like this, online mode is your friend (Again, Tethys was and still is a major exp mine for me), or even teaming up with high level characters that can let you dive straight into the high level stuff.

It has become a wall of text, but I hope it's a helpful wall of text. Sure, update 7 is going to change a lot but I know the first week of playing is the hardest to go through in terms of difficulty and possibilities. Seeing as update 7 is ATLEAST 5 days away (updates are only at Fridays), I thought I would still try and give you some information about how to start off. We're all impatient with playing video games after all. If you are still hitting a brick wall after all this information, add me ingame, and I can help you run whatever you want a few times to get you started on experience/credits.

PS: http://warframe.wiki.../WARFRAME_Wiki. Use it to see what resources you need before buying a blueprint, where that resource drops, etc. It really helps planning out the path you want to take to get that weapon or warframe you really want.

PPS: I hope it all makes sense. Posting this at 6 am or so.

  9. But what if...

    today you woulda got one

I'm too used to playing games with lots of RNG involved that I stopped thinking about scenarios like that. Fact is that I got no potato for around 16 days straight. Chances of me getting one on my 17th is too small to even consider.

That would've been a nice plottwist though.

  10. Well, as weird as it sounds, I'm not even dissapointed/mad that this happened. In the month or so that I've played, while getting the daily reward every single day, I didn't get a single Catalyst/Reactor, so it's not like this'll make a big difference.

  11. We already got another gun before. Braton Vandal. I am happy with that already. Now we get Lato vandal. I am happier. They could stop here already for the long gun/pistol set, and I wouldn't mind that. Though the trend could continue, and we might get more.

Nah, I was talking about you saying that his opinion was only formed because he 'only' got a gun. Going from this post though, I'm fairly sure we have the same opinion. It's like raining presents everywhere without a weather broadcast announcing it beforehand. I can't even understand why people are saying they would rather have something else.

And yes, it seems like we might indeed get the entire Vandal set, but if not, I'm fine with that too. Although, with the Lato Vandal, I can form my loadout of exclusive weapons now. I don't even care if they aren't totally OP or whatever, I'll make this loadout work somehow. No, I will make this loadout work, just for the sake of both having bragging rights and showing support towards DE. Mostly bragging rights though.

    I would be happy if:

I could change weapon stats like today I want fast and tomorrow a sniper pistol.

    that could be very useful.

Get mods? Oh, update 7 hit? Get artifacts. Also, Kraken is pretty much a fast sniper pistol, so you don't even have to switch between weapons each day!

  12. ... I am going to just hope people are not American and hope that they are not just pure $&*&*#(%&. If you have POWER RANGE mods your ABILITIES will travel FARTHER.

If you have Excal his blade dash will go FARTHER

If you have Mag her PULL will have longer RANGE

If you have Volt his lightning will travle a farther distance.

If you guys still do not understand.... perhaps you should look into some form of school D:

Funny how your own post has an amazingly big error stating Excalibur's dash increases in range as well, even though that's linked to Power Duration, not range. Keep saying Americans are stupid if you're the one giving out wrong info.

    PS: It's called Slash Dash.

  13. This is because you assume the gun is the ONLY cbt reward.

Beta is going to go on for a while. We are going to get at least a full set of vandal stuff, if this trend goes on.

Vandal gun, vandal sword, vandal skin, etc.

Ehh, with that logic, we shouldn't be happy with this gun if we don't get anything else either in this Closed Beta. Why shouldn't be happy getting only this gun if we wouldn't get anything else?

  14. Brother?

Nah, playing with guys from my gaming community through Teamspeak. Luckily, I got around 4 or 5 people hooked to the game so pretty much every evening we have a 4 man team to do whatever we feel like doing... which sometimes is just plain trolling each other through shooting windows or using Loki Switch Teleport or Mag's Pull on each other.

We TOTALLY didn't go off topic.

  15. 2-3 shockwaves spamming you in a locked room while your friend is being pressure to hacking the lock while your other friends are guarding him. Unless you experince that you can't say that you mastered warframe(this is irrelevant).

Haha, I had some of those experiences, and I have to admit, died a couple of times because of that as well. Especially when a friend trolls you and shoots the window outside the actual room, making you get stuck with all the enemies alone, with your health decreasing and plenty of Shockwave MOA's stunlocking you. Man, I hate those guys I play with. :D

  16. The reason you think ciphers are easy is probably you never been locked in a room with a lot of enemies.

I have, actually. Plenty of times too. Yes, there's some situations where the room being locked proposes an extra challenge, but almost all rooms still hold enough wiggle room to hide or just kill them all. Not to mention that in those situations you won't even have the ability to reach the hacking panel, which makes the minigame itself irrelevant anyway.

Hmm, one possible way of doing it is changing the shapes so that there are puzzles with straight lines and have those lines be different colours at the ends, so that the puzzles need to be matched in colour too.

If the above doesnt make much sense, just wait, ill upload a picture after ive slept :)

Always happy to see new ideas. I'll check back at the thread tomorrow or so as well then.

To me they are good enough the way they are now, i mean, can be solved faster so don't bother me doing it so many times.

The XP is increased after you reach level 30, never realized it . -.

Yes, I agree with you they should stay short, but that doesn't mean they can't be made slightly more interesting. It's just so mind-numbing easy right now that all it does is let you without control over your character for roughly 6-8 seconds. I know that's the whole point in the first place, but still.
