  1. Out of all the primary weapons in Warframe, I’ve only found ONE that I feel meets/exceeds my standards in terms of satisfying gunplay. Whether it’s through sound design, animations or enemy reactions, I believe this weapon stands out above the rest:

    The Quartakk.

    latest?cb=20171221214432

For one, it has two mechanics that make it feel really good to use: innate punchthrough and ragdoll upon kills. This makes the Quartakk feel powerful, as your shots will not only penetrate cover and multiple enemies, but also send them flying back upon a kill.

To illustrate the rag dolls, I made a quick recording that you should be able to view here in this gfycat link

Secondly, it has fantastic animations (for a Warframe weapon at least). With each pull of the trigger, the muzzles fly back into the body to absorb recoil, while the magazine section visibly opens upward to release the spent casings before bouncing back down. Upon a reload, the user forcibly unclips the magazine with a hard push to the side before sliding in a new one - inserting it from back to front.

Finally all of this is supported by great sound design. Shooting Quartakk is accompanied by a thunderous boom, followed by the clicking of the muzzles locking back into place. Reloading is similarly satisfying, with a hiss of gas/hot air accentuating the solid click of the magazine being removed, followed by the meaty snaps of the new magazine clipping in.

Thats ignoring the stats and look of the gun itself, which I find enjoyable but don’t necessarily associate with satisfying gunplay.

So yeah TL;DR Quartakk is love, Quartakk is life. If I had started playing Warframe much later, back when the Ghoul purges were released, it would no doubt be my most used weapon.

  2. “Satisfaction” is largely subjective as far as sound goes. It would probably help as far as feedback goes if you specified what you dislike about the new sounds in comparison to the old ones.

Sure the stance moves are gonna close the gap but what are they going to do when we start overstepping and passing our intended targets? Are we going to have to do constant 180s the entire time to stay on target or are we now require to have sticky melee targeting enabled in the options menu?

As ChaosSabre said, it’s because at the moment the melee 3.0 tweaks aren’t meshing with the current combos. Once melee 3.0 hits the combos you use will be different, and will likely not carry you as far since the move responsible will have been relegated to the gap closer attack.

  4. Imo more “engaging gunplay” would focus on satisfying shooting mechanics, animations, and sound design rather then adding modifiers to your shooting attacks. I use guns because, well, they’re guns. Point at the bad guy, insert lead into their orfices repeatedly until death is achieved.

Complex mechanics should be left for new weapons, such as Arca Scisco’s stacking damage buffs.

EDIT: I guess mods could be a thing too, like “+200% Pistol damage upon aim-glide headshot” or something.

There aren't many solutions though. Creating different rivens - with lower disposition - for prime versions (no more power creep and broken weapons) which would be the simpliest solution. Now it's too late but prime weapons could have worked without rivens (with enough buff i guess), so Rivens would be only useful to use oldest and weakest weapons. Nerfing rivens for newest prime weapons but this would mean the older version wouldn't be viable anymore - not much interesting.

If I remember correctly, the game actually does store separate dispositions for Prime weapons and variants, it just currently sets them to the same as their regular versions. So imo the actual simplest solution would be to change the disposition of the Primes and have the riven change stat values depending on which variant it was equipped on. For example a Gram riven would have 5/5 stats on a regular Gram and 2/5 for Gram Prime.

  6. I was in your position OP. But now I’m the proud owner of a Celestia syandana.

It took me around a week-ish to reach Typhoon, and then a few days after to get the glowy scarf. And this is despite me being horrible, with bad tracking and movement. I was honestly surprised, since I was expecting a far longer grind. Now here I am with a good chunk of the skins, and it isn’t even that difficult for me to keep syandana lit. (EDIT: If you complete your weekly, then all but one pair of flames will be lit which is easily finished by doing one daily)

Yes Conclave is generally barren. The main exceptions I’ve found are usually around the daily reset, and around when the Conclave dailies reset which is three hours after. Also if you join a match and it is empty, I would immediately back out and try again. This has a high chance of connecting you to a clan-hosted server that usually has a few players.

It may seem like an impossible prospect, but it is definitely doable especially if you only care about the syandana.

  7. I’m definitely in the minority here but I’d greatly prefer challenge - at the cost of frame abilities and weapon power currently. Imo the whole “ninja” aspect of Warframe is underutilized. I’d like to see a toning down of Warframe abilities across the board, with a focus on group tactics, player skill, and stealth. A mod revamp where the base stats of a weapon/frame are good enough for content, and mods would allow for specialization at the cost of another aspect (such as increasing hp but decreasing mobility, or increasing damage but decreasing fire rate and ect). Players would be at a disadvantage when encountering groups of enemies, forcing them to utilize guerrilla tactics while taking advantage of their extreme mobility.

Which is pretty much a pipe dream and a totally different game at that point but a guy can dream. In the meantime more challenge please.

  8. Acolyte mods aren’t supposed to be used on Exalted weapons. It wasn’t that DE removed the ability to use them with Mesa’s Waltz, it was that DE fixed a bug that allowed players to circumvent their intentions with the Acolyte mods.

  9. So what you’re saying is in exchange for a longer casting time, you want us to be locked into specific camera angles watching a fancier cast animation while we are being shot at/sliced up.

I guess more options are better but in a horde shooter like Warframe, that would be one option I would leave off. Plus the animation would probably get tiring after awhile, much like the older iterations of Bladestorm before DE finally let us opt in to the cinematics.

  10. Just because regular Nidus released with Hirudo doesn’t mean the Deluxe has to adhere to that as well. Inaros released with Lesion for example, but his Deluxe came with a sword skin. The point of Deluxe skins is to revitalize the look of the Warframe in question with a new theme, and I imagine DE selects weapon skins that look good with the frame, as opposed to what weapons they originally came out with.

  11. Ranged weapons are currently balanced according to their Mastery Rank. It makes perfect sense for Snipetron Vandal, which is MR5, to be weaker then Rubico Prime if the leaked MR of 12 is correct. Accordingly Vectis Prime should be stronger then Rubico Prime as it is MR14.

  12. Facing off 1v1 against a Conclave regular is probably the closest experience I’ve had to an enemy fight that required me to utilize parkour.

But yeah I agree that currently Warframe’s bosses and assassins are rather underwhelming, with pre-Second Dream Stalker being the funnest/most dangerous imo. Though rather then parkour, I’d like to see enemies that encouraged using melee mechanics. Parrying each others attacks while trying to find openings to land a combo or using channeling to reveal a weak point, similar to a boss from Devil May Cry or Ninja Gaiden. Though I suppose that’s a topic for another time.

The main issue with building a boss that encourages parkour is accounting for the freedom of movement and range of abilities available to the player. Warframes can rapidly change direction on the ground and in midair, and frames like Titania can even fly! It’ll be interesting to see how DE approaches making future boss fights that can challenge the current power and versatility of Warframes.

Excal Prime was delegated from viable to a wall-hanger.

I’m actually for letting Umbras equip Prime helmets and skins, but absolute hyperbole like this does not help your case. Nothing in this game loses its viability because of an existing upgrade. Whether or not it is usable depends on its own merits. And in this case people have been taking even regular Excalibur to late/end-game content long before Umbra was a thing.

When Umbra came out, Excalibur Prime even had his stats buffed, technically making him more viable for content then he was previously. The existence of Umbra doesn’t suddenly make Prime worse, just unoptimal in comparison.

  14. For one both Warframes are different, with their own stats and abilities. So putting the exact same mod set up on both may not be optimal. For example, Excalibur Umbra has no way of going invisible like Ash Prime can, and has to rely on Radial Howl as well as his higher armor stat to survive, so it may be more worthwhile to equip hp and armor mods on him compared to Ash who doesn’t need them as much. Then there’s Warframe ability augments, such as Seeking Shuriken that lets Ash’s Shuriken strip enemy armor, or Chromatic Blade that boosts Umbra’s Exalted Blade status chance while changing its damage type from physical to elemental based on energy color.

As for your question, both frames are capable of surviving while dealing out damage, Umbra is more tanky, and can use his Exalted Blade to take out sortie-level enemies quickly assuming you have a decent build. Ash can avoid getting shot at in the first place with his Smoke Screen, and can use his Blade Storm to take out enemy mobs easily while leaving the player free to engage other enemies.

  15. I would prefer this as well. Umbra looks great but the flat color of his scarf chest-back attachment ruins the look of quite a few Tennogen skins imo, plus the scarf itself clips with so many syandanas that I don’t even bother attaching any to him in the end.

Similar to a “Prime details” toggle, the proposed addition would toggle off all of Umbra’s cloth attachments and shiny bits that differentiate him from regular Excalibur. Sure it would be nice to toggle certain bits separately but we don’t even have that level of customization with Prime skins so I feel that is too much to ask.

  16. The only way Amprex would get Primed if it was revealed that it was a Corpus copy of some similar Orokin weapon which is highly unlikely. But yeah you already addressed the reasons why it won’t happen. Even a Vandal or Prisma version is unlikely since the Amprex is already pretty strong, thus an upgrade isn’t necessary or even a priority compared to other weaker weapons.

As for an Amprex “Prime skin”, it’s probably more possible but it would definitely mess up the lore (or at least more then it already is). Plus it sets a precedent for other non-Tenno weapons to receive Prime skins as well which would get pretty convoluted imo. But hey, Grakata Prime skin would make DE some money at least so who knows?

  17. Very subtle, so much in fact that despite them appearing in droves at every relay, I never noticed.

Actually since these guys will be around after Fortuna happens, would calling them an “Easter Egg” even be fitting? I thought this was just DE populating relays more to make them a bit more interesting.

When MESA PRIME releases ZYLOK PRIME should be her weapon of choice. with more damage and more crit and more status and more rate of fire

Zylok is far to recent to receive a Prime though. On top of that it’s still up in the air whether Zylok is even a Tenno weapon. The name is Grineer-like for sure (see Marelok, Buzlok, Grinlok, Javlok, ect) and it’s a gift from Steel Meridian (a Grineer-based syndicate faction) so perhaps the current look of Zylok is a placeholder and its model was meant for a different secondary.

  19. A dev has stated in the past that Zaw stats are tied to the individual parts code-wise, so it wouldn’t be possible to change the appearance without changing the stats of the Zaw itself. Which is really stupid tbh and a great example of Warframe’s spaghetti code but it is what it is.

Will that change anytime in the future? Who knows but I hope with Fortuna’s upcoming Kitguns that they will be taking another look at the Zaw backend as well.

  20. I totally agree, and wish Loki would have more tweaks to promote his “trickster” theme. Like what if switch teleport temporarily exposed the targeted enemy (not ally for obvious reasons) to friendly fire or a radiation proc, allowing you to pull off kills like headshotting a sniper with his own Lanka shot? Or maybe using switch teleport would make enemies lose track of you for a brief moment, allowing for stealth finishers. So you could switch with a Corpus tech’s shield drone and stab him before he can react!

Would make for cool augments at least, but I’d love to drop that Nox off of a cliff for sure even if rag doll kills don’t grant exp.
