  1. I personally want some kind of melee combat system for operator but it must feel different from warframe melee combat, it should be based on operator void power, but it shouldnt be simply operator holding weapons exactly same way as warframe does, melee weapon should be more like extension of operator arm(literally energy coming from his arm like beam does), for example something like this:

Gosh, it's almost like you have to make *choices* and can't have the best of everything.

I am mostly frustrated, about the fact that some people wont have a "choice" to get umbra version of their favorite frame, not because of mods but because its changed abilities and abilityto fight independetly, whats more the fact not all frames will get umbra versions may actually be bad for game, since it means that either DE wont build up on umbra system OR they will but by doing that cut off part of community from the new system, since what if frame you love playing the most with doesnt have umbra frame, yes you can play with umbra versions of different frames, but if you are unlucky only frames you dislike may end up with umbra versions, fundamentally it leads to situation that you must choose between new system or frame you love to play with.

so currently it would be best for game if either DE doesnt build up on  umbra system or create umbra versions of each frame.

It's a set up for a new system.

DE has stated that while not all Warframes are going to get an Umbral version, there are going to be more Umbral Warframes. So, yes, they are useless right now, but you get to test out how they work and take effect on an Umbral Warframe and its equipment before the rest of the system is implemented.

It's a sneak peek into this new system, essentially.

where did DE said not every frame will get umbra version ? I only heard DE saying along while ago that they want to make umbra frames a thing.

there have been many disappontments over the years, why moan about a small side quest, they could say the next quest/update will cure world famine, while that would soudn awesome on a devstream, common sense and history on the forums should tell you to not expect so much.  Large updates spread over a longer time frame or smaller updates released more often?  1 of those holds interest more than the other for players who havent got much to do, disregard whatever you expected, again just focus on what this small quest gave, its not half bad a quest and you get a load of stuff for virtually no work, you may have expected a big old major release but you didnt.  You still got an ok side quest tho, be happy.

I wouldnt mind so much if not for the fact that this year is very lacking in content compared to previous year, many people are comparing this half of year to year 2016 which to many people was worst year warframe had because how lacking in content it was, like I said many people quite warframe in 2016, we waited a LONG time for update 23 and it sucked, it bringed very little of content, bringed some UI changes that are really BAD(DE will probably fix it with time but still, people warned DE that UI has some serious problems and DE still pushed it through) and bringed some serious bugs, like enemies randomly becoming immune to our guns.

  5. saw it happening multiple times recently, it seems that at least some abilties that change enemy 'state' can fix it, like for example freezing enemy, made it possible to shot enemy again, I could be wrong about this, since I was freezing multiple enemy and I could have mixed up who was immune to gun fire.

  6. I wonder if that means we are experiancing something similar to "Bleeding Effect" from assassin creed(never played it but read something about it), from assassing creed wiki:

"The Bleeding Effect refers to a disorder wherein the genetic memories of one's ancestors begin to blend with the sufferer's own, real-time memories, often leading to difficulties in distinguishing between the two. In severe cases, this eventually resulted in mental breakdown."

I wonder if we are experiancing something similar, only instead of memories of our ancestors its memories of umbra, there was hint something like this is happening in the middle of quest for a moment we said "kill my...his...son Isaah".

Now the question is, IF we are going to get umbra versions of other frames(something DE said awhile ago they want to do), does what mean we will be experiancing their memories(see their back stories ? that would be AWESOME) and does that mean their memories will be mixing with our own....that cant be good for the operator, this will most likely lead to mental breakdown...

So I took the liberty to listen to what they actually said in Devstream 74 regarding Umbra.

    At 23:58:

      Hide contents

Rebecca: So Umbra. So, if we told you spoilers about the Second Dream, as in, you're know what the Tenno are by the time you play this Second Dream quest.

    Steve: Woah. Woah!

Rebecca: And if we told you that before we released it, it would have been really disappointing.

    Sheldon: Right. So, same thing.

Rebecca: So, the same thing applies to the way Umbra will be revealed in the global build, so stay tuned. Please. Uh, please-

    Geoff: We- we have plans.

Rebecca: We do. And I don't think saying anything-

Steve: Well, hold on. I think we've probably said we have plans for a while. We have things that are being worked on and executed and it's happening. And-But it's not-

Geoff: We're waiting for the appropriate time.

Steve: It's not what you're going to expect and it's gonna be interesting and it may frustrate you more. A little bit. But, uhhhh, thank you for asking and you'll soon at least know stuff.

    at 25:24,

      Reveal hidden contents

Steve: There's no ETA for Umbra, but uh, soon those questions will be answered more concretely.

at 45:17, another mention of Umbra as Steve reads a question from Rebecca's list

      Reveal hidden contents

Steve: ..."I find the Umbras very intriguing. I see a lot of potential in the lore-wise." So I think this would be one person that might not be pissed off.

(Here the team says things in a jumble)

Steve: ...We're definitely using it as an opportunity to tell the story about...um, broadens(?) Warframe in general. The game in general. In the same way The Second Dream kinda broadened what the meaning of everything was. Uh, that's kinda where we're going with that. But, can't say much more about that.

That's about the only places where Umbra was mentioned and, like some in the community have mentioned, the answers were all given in response to fan questions. Critically analyzing their actual words, they did not promise any new content like the Focus system introduction. All they said was that it would spoil the surprise if they spoiled it. Even if you said that there was really no surprise in the Sacrifice quest, it's more like there had been enough content hinting at the nature of warframes and enough fan speculation that it wasn't really surprising for most anymore. That, however, is besides the point. Their answers were more focused on lore than on any additional gameplay content. Steve was right, though. It did frustrate people. Some more than others.

To say that they've been working on it as their main project would be presumptuous, I think. From content volume perspective, I think they had more people working on the Plains of Eidolon and conversely, they would have more people focusing on the Venus open world and whatever other additional gameplay content they have in store.

I want to point out that originally umbra was going to play role in TWW quest, we know that from leaked scrpit long before we got TWW

you shouldnt take any new quest for what was/is supposedly promisec in the minds of others and instead take it for what it physically and actually is, and what it is, is a decent little quest with plenty of freebies thrown in for minimal effort, complaining about that is beyond childish, its not like all quests end there.

I cant agree with this because quest was being done for VERY long time, in devstream 74(which happen on may of 2016) they said they were activily working on whole umbra stuff, it was too long time for too little pay off, but thats not really the biggest problem, problem is that this update as a whole bringed very little playable  content and since few months ago frequency of new content(like weapons) being added to game droped(also there was no new event lately) significantly lately, I though it was because update 23, that it will bring at least few weapons to master(not just from quest but also from market/dojo to get) but it didnt, its bad that just after you finish quest you  immediately are left to wait for next content update.

This year is starting to feel like 2016, year that was very dry in content and made most of my warframe friends leave the game, out of boredom.

    5 hours ago, Mesaeux said:

Expecting the last cinematic quest to have another content drop in the same vein as TSD and TWW is based on nothing else but precedent, which I think is unrealistic. I think it is unreasonable to expect The Sacrifice to repeat the content drop of TSD and TWW simply because the latter two have done that. What they have in common, however, is that they canonized the nature and origin of the warframes and advanced the story somewhat and set up elements for the next story arc. I believe that explaining the nature of the Tenno and the warframes had been the focus of the trilogy and this had been done very well. It was emotionally involving throughout and they really know how to wield plot twists by keeping many elements mysterious initially.

Problem is that DE hyped that sacrifice/umbra reveal is going to be on par with the Focus System reveal(they hyped it in devstream 74, in may 2016...), this is why people disappointed what we got with sacrifice is nowhere near focus/focus 2.0 from TSD/TWW

That's the point. The isn't supposed to be a new end goal we are done with the Origin System. I thoroughly think every question I had has been answered. What is an operator, what is a Warframe, why were we created and why is it that one needs the other. And like I said in my post this is the end this chapter and now we are moving on to a completely new chapter new story, which I am assuming is Tau System.

Well I dont think there was need to leave it at such big cliffhanger, this makes this "trilogy" feel unfinished, it is possible to finish story arc without cliffhanger while leaving  it open enough for next story arc, small teaser of next story arc would be better then heavy handed approach we got with ending of this quest, actually both second dream and the war within felt more individually complete then this quest both individualy and as ending of trilogy

after second dream and the war within, you feel like this: "wow this was cool, I wonder what will happen in next quests" you feel more satisfied but at the same time you wonder about what will happen next, you dont feel same satisfaction after sacrifice, you are only left furstrated with how long you will have to wait to find out more about lotus(did she betray us and all that)

  10. 4 minutes ago, DisasterIncarnate said:

just as many quests that dont open up new tilesets and the likes, a quest is just a quest, little exciting tidbits between bigger expansions, expecting major aditions just because a quest lands is ridiculous, what this quest delivered was more than enough on its own.

Not true, what you are talking about is non-cinematic quest, cinematic quests are supposed to be meaningful, fundamental part of the game, devs literally said in the past that sacrifice was going to be on par with second dream and the war within content-wise, it wasnt.

  11. 1 hour ago, DisasterIncarnate said:

that should be expected, they are after all just small minor side quests, their not major game expansions.

you do realize all previous cinematic quests give us post quest content right ? second dream give us lua/moon, new system and broken war to level, war within given us, kuva fortress, upgrade to focus system, rivens, and teshin glaive orvious to level, sacrifice quest was in every way inferior to both second dream and war within, didnt give us new title set with new missions, we got new frame and weapon but cant level them from ground up, new system we got with this update if inferior to focus/focus 2.0 even though DE said what we get with umbra will be on par with focus/focus 2.0, we did get new mods but maxing them out is only a problem if you arent experianced player, experianced player can instantly max them out once you get them so no effort here, in previous cinematic quests both new and experianced players had some new stuff to do after finishing it.

  12. 15 minutes ago, DisasterIncarnate said:

lack of a quest reward?  you mean apart from a max rank umbra frame complete with weapon and new mods?    er right....

I think he means the fact that after you finish it you have nothing left to do previous cinematic quests given us new title sets with new mission and new weapons that we have to level ourselves, which meant we still had some stuff to do after we finish quest.

This was not a quest 3 years in the making, you've simply been aware of Umbra for 3 years.

😤I swear every time I see this complaint posted....😤

Actually concept of umbra(independent frame) existed more then half a year before the war within, we know that from leaked orginal scrpit for the war within quest that was supposed to include umbra, it even outright said what umbra is so it wasnt small part in quest, so people who saw script already known what is umbra, I saw it by chance but I didnt found out from it what is umbra I actually already pieced it together soon after second dream quest, based on what was said by hunhow about stalker and based on actions of our frame after it got stabbed., script only confirmed it for me.

With that in mind I want to say that just because I known that our frame will move independently doesnt mean I was disappointed by this, what disappointed me was that there wasnt more to this system, a while ago steve heavily implied that umbra will come with its own system on par with focus/focus 2.0, what we got is nowhere near that. I know its hard to imagine what kind of system can come with independent frame but I can give you simple idea right now: combo moves between umbra and operator, for example:

-attacking same enemy together can lead to some special attack

-channeling your energy(using your operator beam/amp on umbra?) into umbra to amplify and/or give special properties to his attacks.

-using void blast on umbra to release shockwave all around umbra.

    and more.

my second problem with the quest is what some people already pointed out, there is nothing left to do after you finish it, in previous quests you gained access to new titlesets and/or gained new weapons to level, this time we got nothing, umbra and new weapon come maxed out , yes you can use forma's on them but its not same thing as maxing out for the first time since you arent progressing toward next rank so you dont get feeling of progress like you normally do when maxing out weapon for the first time, also some people may not care about  this new nikana, so since its already maxed out they will simply leave it behind in storage not to touch it again since they dont have reason to touch it again. The fact that there was lack of new weapons being added to game lately makes this worse, I was disasppointed recently that there is lack of new weapons in game but I was patient since I was expecting few weapons being added with this update since big updates always bringed multiple weapons, this one didnt, right now I feel exactly like I felt before this update come: "I hope new content will come soon..."

EDIT: I just looked at tennoclock site and in their "in development" page under "umbra" section there is link to devstream 74 where DE says they are activly working on umbra....devstream 74 was happening on 13 may of 2016...

  14. on my first try, me and my team were unable to keep up efficency, not because of we werent able to kill enemies fast enough but because there was almost no enemies on map, we barel reached zone 7 before we finished.

on second try with different team we werent able to start, very first portal bugged out so we could even enter combat area.

on third try with yet another team we had enough enemies and everything was going well until portal to second zone opened, when I entered it I was transported back to same zone during moving between zones after few tries it eventually transported me to next zone but it killed me during transport, I had to revive, after revive Ihad hard time playing because my whole screen was distorted by frozen portal animation(wavy screen), I was actually able to play like that using radar(UI wasnt distorted) until next portal(was hoping that using portal would fix it), it didnt fix it but when I jumped into water in next zone it fixed my screen. I was able to play just fine after that no more portal problems but after a while I realized I have different problem I wasnt getting any rewards, after my and my team finished at zone 11, it was a COLOSSAL waste of time, I did over 50% of damage to enemies and have nothing to show for it.

here is my mission summary as proof:

Nah, not going to get over it, it's a huge slap in the face, especially since they said it'd ONLY be available for CBTs.

DE asked a while ago beta testers if they would be fine with those returning and huge majority didnt mind, also its not first time DE changed their mind/broken their word, for example in the past DE said PRIMES will only be cosmetic difference to non-prime gear(appearance change, stats stay same) but they changed their mind, so if you are against this then you should also demand all primes to be nerfed to non-prime level, if you dont then that will make you hypocrite since it would mean you are fine with DE breaking their word when it suits you.

  16. I dont think support will help us because while support didnt respond to me yet, I got message back with guidlines how to ask for help in situation like this and one of things it said was : "* What **One Item** do you want restored? ", and there was quite a few of them and I dont even remember what items those were.

guidelines also mention to say what relic I used, which I dont remember at all.

So instead of playing on a new and arguably very pretty tileset, they just removed all reason to play it?

I guess you can't get burned out on something if there is literally no reason to play it, right?

I think that this part probably didnt went as planned, they probably expected people will play it around as frequently as other tilesets

Now they probably trying to fix it.

  18. I am pretty sure that reason they didnt want to put kuva in the fortress  is because they were afraid of repeating situation with void and primes, if something important to game is farmable in only one location, you will eventually get burned out from seeing same tileset over and over and over and over....again.

I guess I just don't like my hand being held.

while whatever you like or not your hand being held is personal choice, I also dont like when  game goes too far trying to explain everything, I generally skip tutorials in other games BUT this case is different, with other things there is no long term negative consequences because of not knowing, for example game doesnt teach you how to fight, you can try over and over again until you will get it right, game doesnt tell you where something drops, you will find out eventually and you will able to get that thing, but if you delete rare weapon you may not be able to get that weapon for months if not years if you have bad luck.
