As in, Platinum?

You can get that in-game easily enough without needing to spend any money,
look into farming / selling Prime parts, rare (e.g. Corrupted) Mods, and whatnot.

Also, referring someone will give you a percentage of their first Plat purchase, FWIW.

As in, Platinum?

I’d say just be concerned with clearing the star chart. Have a reliable weapon in your stash to use when S#&$ gets real, like the Hek for example, after you kit that out to be decent, then experiment with new weapons

 

   If you wanna lvl stuff, fight grineer since they give more xp, and do so in endless missions. I’d recommend excavation and defense. Always look out for the xp sharing range (base 50m) and try to stay close to your team to get full xp. Spend your plat on slots only. Lvl up your dmg mods. Use corrosive element (electric+toxin)

Take Excal as starter then Rhino since he's very tanky and newbie friendly. From then on the choice is yours.
