Riven Enthusiasts, Time to stop the nerfs!

i dont see a reason to this thread tbh. i might be wrong but i have the impression that many ppl are uninformed about the reason why rivens exist in the first place, which is not power creep so example like gram prime will surely see a nerf with the melee balance pass/riven dispo pass.

theres no point in stating riven nerfs/buffs are unfair since an innately strong weapon ofc shouldnt have a high disposition, like rubico or example and if ppl buy rivens for silly amounts of plat then its their own problem. an overhyped weapon which is also very good by default is sure to see dispo nerfs, more so than others of its type.

dont invest 10ks of plat into 1 riven thats screaming at ur face "ill get nerfed !"...there are enough weapons which are underperforming by default but turn out the total opposite with the right rivens and these have a high disposition, which is the whole intention of rivens.

Most of the outrage stems from the wasted time and ridiculous grind that rolling useable rivens often requires.

Kuva drops are too low unless you happen to luck out on the booster + smeeta buff combo and, most often than not, all the accumulated kuva would result in trash stats...  no "sense" of  progression, no way to improve or mitigate the rolls, only RNG.

RNG in obtaining a riven in the first place (except archwing and companion ones that can be farmed), then RNG to find a riven for a specific weapon type, more RNG for a riven for the specific weapon, and after all that RNG on rolling useable stats, so: RNGcubed + RNG!!!!

For DE rivens are an excellent cash cow, as the only way to reduce RNG is paying actual plat: for a resource booster, for a kavat starting kit, for a smeeta pair of imprints, for an unrolled riven for the desired weapon type or directly, for a  riven for the right weapon, or a lot of plat for a good riven for that same weapon...

Then DE comes and changes said rivens at their discrection, using an undisclosed internal balance, ignoring the excruciating grind or the obscene amounts of plat already wasted by the customers...  anyone would have more than enough reasons to be pissed off at this point!

Usually when DE made relevant changes to gameplay, frames, systems and so on, there was, at least a small, compensation to aknowledge the time, effort and/or plat invested as an apology to the players - rivens are so far a notable exception to this.

If the disposition changes affected rivens aafter trading or rerolling, it would be nearly "acceptable", you'd be losing nothing and could keep enjoying the fruit of your effort/wallet without issue, on the other hand we get slapped with the notion that all resources invested (time, plat etc.) are considered utterly worthless by DE, this is insulting - riven adjustment should have been there from the beginning, to curtail prices inflation, not something remebered after a pair of years of ignoring the issue, after players had sunk rivers of plat and kuva on their mods.

Ironically riven for high disposition weapons doesn't help raising them from mastery fodder to "usable" status, due to percentage based buffs (+400% of a trash stat like 5% crit chance remains trash) while high disposition rivens get also correspondingly high downsides (sometimes you can roll things like -235% damage or -190% multishot and the like)

On the other hand rivens with low disposition can't even be used for utility due to eccessively low benefits, far fall below dual stat or currupted mods that offer at least 60% buffs for half the modding cost and much less hassle....

So: rivens can't save a bad weapon from the trash pile, good weapons can't get a decent riven due to "balancing" nonsense (if a weapon is popular it's because it's got some desiderable trait! and that gets its disposition lowered) - doesn't this imply that rivens are an utter failure at their intended role?

High kuva rolling costs make no sense in this contest... at the same time it feels that all balancing is done on the wrong aspects of the mods: why nuke or inflate the buffs themselves when better results could be obtained by limiting or expanding which buffs and downsides can be rolled based on disposition and type of weapon?

This way high disposition weapons would mainly get access or better chance at all or most damage buffs, while low disposition ones would be skewed mainly to utility buffs.

On the other hand zaws and kitguns really need a balance pass: rivens on them are overkill when the base weapon can be optimixed from the get go...
