Basmu needs bugfixes and tweaks (suggestions in post)

I really like the Basmu. It's very unique, with interesting gimmicks, well-rounded, and not overpowered. It strongly relies on additive crit with Arcane Avenger / Adarza / Harrow, and I personally find it fun to build and play around this mechanic. That said, I feel like it deserves some adjustments.

1. Fix the bug where the healing pulse is interrupted by actions that don't interrupt the actual reload. For example, this happens when sliding or bullet jumping. There may be other causes.

2. Fix the bug where holding alt fire does not continue firing after reloading. Self-explanatory.

The issue with held controls actually runs much deeper and is not limited to the Basmu. Just one out of many examples: on any automatic gun, if you hold fire and do a quick melee, it does not continue firing after the melee. From my perspective, it's a bug. But since we're on the topic of the Basmu, just bringing alt fire in line with primary fire would be nice.

3. Consider increasing alt fire damage. Basmu's alt fire has low crit and high crit multiplier, just like the Nukor or Kuva Nukor; it also chains to multiple enemies. I build the Basmu to benefit from this gimmick; the build includes a riven with magsize, crit damage, toxin damage, and -max ammo (harmless). I use it with additive crit such as Arcane Avenger and Adarza; I'm specifically talking about the damage with additive crit procs. Unfortunately, despite the high crit multiplier, alt fire feels much weaker than primary fire, which also can hit multiple enemies at once. What is the point of the alt fire then? And of course, it's not even in the same universe as the Kuva Nukor.

What needs to happen: the base damage of the secondary mode needs a buff to make it worth using over the primary mode when additive crit is available. I would start by doubling it.

4. Consider an ammo indicator close to the crosshair or make the low-ammo noise more audible, especially for alt fire which seems to lack it. On the Basmu, it's very important to watch your ammo and stop before the last round when you want maximum DPS and don't need the healing. With the ammo in a corner of the screen, that's very impractical. Over time, you can learn the timing by heart, but fire rate buffs from teammates, which are generally welcome, can disrupt the rhythm. I feel like this should be addressed by better UI feedback.

Thanks for considering!

I agree with everything you said. I’ve also suggested before to add an indicator to the crosshair so it’s more visually apparent when you run out of ammo. It would also improve the weapon a ton by increasing the magazine size as currently you have to manage it so extensively and accidental triggers of the reload/healing is very prevalent. The Basmu has a lot of potential as well as being one of a kind, so I really hope that DE gives it some changes.
