That would just be a small use of leftover resources. My main idea for getting rid of surplus resources would to have a slot machine of sorts where you put X amount of resource in and the more you put in the better the possibility of getting a good item out of it. They could use the log in reward as a template for the reward generator. AXCrusnik had a good idea too that you could do a system that turns one resource into another such as polymer bundles into morphics. They could explain this in game with making it commerce, like you go to a trader and you trade resources.
