Ive started leveling mine this week (ive got all the basic frames). His best move is speed, with ignis he can speedrun missions. His electro barrier is good for def, and his first ability and ult are quite high dmg. A well balanced frame, heavy on ability use.

chaotea got it mostly covered, as Volt you are very energy-dependant. energy shield is very useful in defenses against corpus/grineer. Best to keep distance and spam #1 from behind shield for stuns and use some fast firing weapon with big clip to kill enemies fast

The speed buff also gives you a melee attack speed buff, and the shield also makes all weapons that shoot through it do +% electric damage, become hitscan (projectiles hit instantly) and shotguns do not lose damage over distance.

and as for the rushes: you can make boss resource farming runs (morphics, orokin cells, etc) take only a few minutes, since you can zoom through most of the map pretty quickly.

combine that with a good weapon (either a weapon which is strong in its own right, or one which is made stronger with volt's shield, like synapse) and you can rush through a number of bosses within 3-5 mins easily.

 

volt's speed is also useful for normal missions, where you have big map tiles and a close quarter weapon like a shotgun. you can use speed to get close to the targets quickly. speed doesn't always mean direct rushing the mission.

Pretty much the previous comments. Also,shock is helpful later levels for the fast stun time... good for yourself and team to gun down a line of grineer/corpus store mannequins standing in the way.

A lot have been said so I just add few advices.

 

- On a speed run, don't run in front of the crew, prefer wait for boost the last guy, the mission will end faster (without waiting 1min at exit). ;)

 

 

- Electric shield is usefull as a quick cover for : reviving a mate, open a oxygen resup, hack a terminal... don't forget it. ;)

 

- For the stuff, take a nice melee weapon to really enjoy the attack speed boost (steel charge as aura), prefer a dirty aiming weapon than a sniper. Continue weapon or shotguns are a nice choice for him. The penta could be fun but don't go faster than your nade. ;)

 

- Speed & choice of the melee weapon :

->Zorencopter powa \o/ : If you love the airsliding attack way of run, the speed skill of Volt will give you some awsome move (boost warframe speed + melee speed = epic fly).

->Over nine thousand damage : The attack speed boost can turn an fragor or other slow heavy weapon in a massive killing machine.

Volt is quite fun when you get used to him. He is especially good against corpus.
