Heavy Caliber - Accuracy Reduction

Question

Hello,

I am interested how the accuracy reduction works on two guns: Latron P and Boltor P.

I have read that for the Latron the accuracy reduction is noticeble and for the Boltor not.

1). Can anyone explain / give more details about how it works? Is it a bug or a feature / etc?

2). Wiki says that Serration + HC "is somewhat ineffective.Adding a maxed Heavy Caliber onto a maxed Serration yields only an additional 62% of the base shot damage. This is because the relative increase from 265% damage to 430% damage is not as significant as the increase from 100%. Players should exercise caution in comparing Heavy Caliber to more conventional mod choices, such as elemental damage." => Is this correct?

Thank you.

well i use HC on my Boltor P. and it doesnt affect it so much only a little

1. it makes your weapon deal more damage while it become inaccurate, ex if you have a weapon that always hit and then put HC on, the weapon will be more inaccurate.

2. source?

Certain weapons are affected only a little while others are affected a lot. Not really a design feature or a bug just the way the game calculates accuracy for those weapons.

Bolt weapons like the Boltor Prime tend to have low accuracy #s, but maintain a decent accuracy ingame until a certain point. So decreasing the accuracy # doesnt really affect the spread until that point.

HCal does follow that relationship. It stacks additvely with serration, not manipulatively like Bane would, for example. It's a damage loss only if you don't already have at least 1 90% element installed.

Latron Prime is a semi-sniper, meaning you're getting the best damage with headshots. Heavy Caliber doesn't affect accuracy enough to make you miss body-shots, but head shots are harder to land. It's safer to land two bullets on a head than to land only a single Heavy Caliber bullet on the head while the other misses your target.

Boltor Prime on the other hand is an assault rifle, so one or two misses doesn't matter if twenty other shots land. Snipers have to make every shot count; assault rifles do not.

Partially. If your Serration is 90%, you would add that to your weapon's base 100% to get

100% -> 190%

As you can see, that is a relative boost of ninety percent. Now, if you have a max Serration, you would do

100% -> 265%

You get a relative boost of one hundred and sixty five percent. Now, if you already have a max Serration, it's usually not good to put a Heavy Caliber. Let's see

265% (with max Serration) -> Heavy Caliber -> 430%

The relative increase from 265% to 430% might seem like a lot, but in reality, if you did the math, 430/265 = 62% overall boost.

100% -> 190% Ninety percent overall boost

100 -> 265% One hundred and sixty five percent overall boost

265% -> 430% Sixty two percent overall boost

As you can see, the jump from no Serration to Max Serration is HUGE, but the jump from max Serration to max Serration with max Heavy Caliber is NOT nearly as much.

Heavy Caliber does give a sizeable boost, although depending on the rank of your Serration, it MIGHT not be worth it. If you have a low ranked Serration, it will work well overall (relatively) but not as much with a high rank Serration.

A maxed HC wont be too noticeable with high accuracy weapons unless you are sniping across large rooms or going full automatic. In most cases, you'll be in close-medium quarters so accuracy loss shouldn't be an issue.
