A Change To Laser Projectile Weapons And Element Modding

Natesky9 Had this idea for the Flux Rifle that I think is great.

 

Adding Heat damage, and taking away the Impact would make sense, since it's a laser, an no projectile is involved. But the high slash damage is pretty good. It has pretty decent status chance (25%, then add in +120%, then Multishot), which is saying alot. Alot of guns now are going to have either 10% or 80% status with these new mods. And Elemental damage is always the answer to buff damage since type-specific damage mods only go to 30% increase.

 

 

I think it would be AWESOME to make the laser weapons more like this. Slash and and Element. I really like the idea of Slash and heat for the Flux and the Dera. They are supposed to be lasers, so to me it just makes sense. This also increases the ability to control the Proc outcome a little bit more.

 

I also had an idea for modding elements. Make it so that elements only combine with the mod that is directly to the right of it. Example:

If your modded gunn looked like this

 

HCET

____    It would give you Blast and Corrosive.

 

H_C_

E_T_  it would give you Heat Cold Electric and Toxic respectively.

 

H__C

E__T Would yield Heat Magnetic and Toxic

 

guns with an elemental base damage like the ignis would connect free floating mods to the base element. So

 

H_C_

E_T_ would give you increased base Heat Blast Radiation and Gas, But 

 

HCET

____    It would still give you Blast and Corrosive, While 

 

H__C

E__T Would now yield increased base heat Magnetic and Gas.
