Do We Have A Rapier Sword In Warframe?

Aren't rapiers generally considered fast weapons? Every game I've played with one in it had it as the fastest or one of the fastest weapons.

Against 1 to 3 enemies sure.

Against hordes that never end? No you would get overrun trying to poke them from how a thrust works in general. It takes time, with a slashing weapon you can just flail around against the enemies and get results.

Rapiers take time and planning to use. Something you don't have when 17 ancients are looking at you funny.

We already have quite a few single-target daggers and such. With a high enough attack speed the amount of targets you can engage would be increased. It could also have some cool effect like punch through. Though like many weapons in this game, I suspect it might be included simply for cool factor.

Better yet, it becomes yet another Tenno Clan Tech weapon.

maybe one like Asuna's from Sword Art Online? :D

Looking up pictures (besides the loads and loads of porn that come up for some reason on SAO), that is not a rapier. This is.

Although before we move on to Rapiers, Warframe overall needs non-headache inducing melee weapons that just look stupid. We also need a proper longsword/bastard sword, seeing as all we have right now is the -shudders- galatine. And we know DE can make good looking weapons, as the Dragon/Nkana is completely functional and doesn't look incredibly stupid. Although what I want is a non-elemental physical version of the Silva and Aegis, designed off medieval short-swords and arm mounted shields.

The same can be said for just about every melee weapon. Warframe really doesn't seem to have any idea of how swords actually function. Or how they were even used.

(Especially against armored opponents, the last thing you want is slashing blades like scimitars or katanas, you want tactical weapons like longswords or pole-arms. It's why a Samurai would actually get trashed by a Knight in a fight, as Katanas are primarily slashing weapons and are just terrible against armor. The best weapons in warframe should be clubs, tactical swords, pole-arms, etc)

We have gravity on Earth, for starters.

And living beings die when being shot enough.

Ehh, that's close enough. I stopped trying to find realism in our melee weapons when I realized we blocked bullets with the cutting edge.

Realism? In my magical space ninja game?

There's a fine line between fun and building something that just screams stupid to anybody who has either handled a sword or has a rudimentary education (in my case self) on melee combat. Case and point, the Galatine. Dear god I don't even know why I keep that thing after its nerf from mele 2.0. Maybe because I don't want to sell something I potato'd.

But really, the galatine is the epitome of stupid melee weapons. The thing is so massive and thick it's just pointless. If they just thinned the blade down and downsized the excessive guard it'd be alright, but really. That thing is huge.

The melee weapons still slice and slash (for swords and katanas), or bludgeon enemies to death (with maces and hammers). That would be one point for the melee weapon realism group in Warframe.

Other than that, not much else for realism.

Trust me, I know your pain. I'm a bit of a gun person and some of the weapons in this game make me want to slap myself.

My experience with edged weapons is limited, but from what I know I don't think I've ever seen a video game with an accurate depiction of sword/hand weapon combat.

-snip-

Depending on your era and place in the world rapiers can vary widely. A non-headache inducing weapon? lets see a rapier is already fast combine that with magical space ninjas and you have a godly weapon though it will have to be pulled back slightly otherwise coptering is going to cause problems. Considering we are magical space ninjas using what would be the actual practice of using most of the melee weapons would be incredibly inefficient.

We also have gravity in space and revive people that should be horridly dead.

That was in response to Vaugahn's statement about questioning about realism in a magical space ninja game.

And if we are going to list the unrealistic aspects of Warframe, may I ask as to how can we shoot out two bullets at once from a barrel, and the bullets almost overlap each other?

That is under the title of magic. Magic space ninjas each of those three words is a title to a list of unrealistic things in warframe.

Dark Souls, War of the Roses, and Chivalry Medieval Warfare all did semi-decent jobs. Mount and Blade however is by far the best.

I'll have to try out Mount and Blade. Thanks for the tip.

There's also the Napoleonic War expansion, which to my knowledge is the only game that perfectly exemplifies flintlock/cap firearm combat with volley lines, and well implemented bayonet charges.

I'll have to give that a try as well. My firearms knowledge is more modern, but I'm always down for historical stuff. I've actually gotten to use a replica revolutionary war-era musket, it was pretty awesome.
