Jamescell
To clarify the following would essentially make a completely new weapon but keep the gas-cloud mechanic. The Torid has had a long and complicated history; damage 2.0 and multiple stat revisions have left this weapon with many iterations of both under-powered and overpowered. Regardless of how much damage the Torid has been able to do, one thing has remained constant: the weapon fails to be versatile. The Torid has been proven to be very effective in stationary game-modes, but fails to be viable otherwise. This problematic imbalance has made it very hard to give the weapon fair stats. I believe that the problem is in the very mechanics of the Torid's weapon design; the slow and arced projectiles combined with the very mechanism of overtime damage doesn't result in a weapon well-fit for most game-play in Warframe. Drastic changes need to be made accordingly in order to make this weapon viable, well rounded and satisfying to use. Proposed Changes: The Torid would receive a completely new weapon design to fit it's new mechanics. The launcher would be replaced with an automatic rifle that shoots non-hit-scan serrated infested projectiles (at a rate much slower than most automatic weapons) that don't arch like the current projectiles but still release an AOE DoT cloud like the Torid does now. These clouds would do less damage and have a slightly smaller AOE for balance. The visual effects would be like the old Torid gas clouds (which looked better in my opinion). Projectiles that don't hit enemies will embed themselves in the surface they come in contact with, again, releasing a AOE DoT cloud like the Torid does now. This would allow for players to strategically siphon off areas with walls of gas-emitting projectiles, but more importantly bring the weapon up to standard in terms of more direct damage. Current Torid Model: The current model that would be replaced could serve as a new infested weapon, (perhaps a more effective launcher design or a sniper). In Summary: The Torid would receive a new weapon model and become an automatic-rifle that fires at a faster rate with bullets that function as the current Torid projectiles do but without arching and with a much faster projectile speed. This would allow for a weapon that keeps the unique gas cloud mechanic but is viable and controllable. OverlordMcGeek
then in that case why not make it a completely different weapon, that barely sounds like the torid.
Archistopheles
Why not make an entirely new gun with your design idea and call it the "Sporid"?
xlraistlx
I'm of the opinion that the Torid is in a great place as is at the moment. I really didn't like the hybrid Acrid/Torid rifle concept.
Seanjuju
The Torid has finally returned to a complete weapon. Step away. Edited November 12, 2014 by Seanjuju
fatpig84
Torid is really good now with 88+% chance to proc. So make a new weapon instead.
Kruglov
The Torid is actually ok now. I say this as someone who stubbornly used it during the vast time period it was considered "a pile of S#&$". It still has a shamefully small magazine size and reload speed but outside of that it's pretty solid.
SeargantHaztagazpacho
Leave it be. I stuck with it through the crap phase to now. Unless someone comes up with a legit better mechanic, it's all good.
OverlordMcGeek
these guys get me ^^^ the torid is pretty good now, sure it isn't something you would want to bring to certain missions but in survivals and defense it is a beast. just add corrosive and blast all grineer die and get knocked down constantly. just bring a good* secondary or a kubrow to finisher them. Whitewolf..UK..
I must admit after the complete destruction of my lovely Torid with damage 2.0, I am now quite happy with. I say....let it alone.
Ragnarlee_Prime
The Torid has finally returned to a complete weapon. Step away. Don't whack the hornets nest as soon as the hornets have settled down dude... Leave it be.
OverlordMcGeek
returning and looking it over it sounds more like a design skeem for the mutalist quanta. which in turn does need one.

Really people should just come up with a new gun idea instead of trying to change existing gun into something totally different. Changing a gun from one thing into something else will just annoy people. The Torid users group up on you in a dark ally and take turns punching you for swaping their weapon.
