I Have Been Thinking...

I have been thinking about some of the content here in Warframe and how some things are similar to what people can find in Dark Sector. Now, I know that both of these games are not supposed to be considered as one whole timeline, however, I couldn't help but think about certain noticeable connections.

For one, we received the Proto-Excalibur skin which is supposed to represent Hayden and the Proto-Glaive skin for the Glaive weapon. We also just received the Nemesis skin for Nyx which is supposed to represent the enemy Hayden has to fight in Dark Sector. Since I never played Dark Sector and have only recently learned about it, I started checking out the wiki for Dark Sector to read more about Nemesis and I came across a particular topic. A certain enemy called Chroma looks strikingly similar to the pelt the Warframe Chroma wears. Furthermore, upon completion of the first part of the quest that allows you to gain Chroma, the Lotus says that she cannot believe that Chroma is still in existence. I believe she might have been referring to the pelt itself or perhaps the powers surrounding the pelt and that she is surprised how an entity has been able to manipulate the power of the pelt. This might make sense if you use Dark Sector as background knowledge.

I know DE has stated that Dark Sector and Warframe are mostly unrelated yet I can't help but think that we will see content from Dark Sector be incorporated into Warframe one way or another.

I am probably late in noticing this and I am sure other people have already mentioned this, however, I couldn't find such discussions in the forums.

I was wondering if we are going to see more of these new skins and perhaps enemies from Dark Sector in Warframe.

They have stated that they are "somehow" related, but the "how" is kind of unknown. The lore is too different for them to really coexist. What I like to think is that the story of "Dark Sector" is some sort of legend on the origin of the Tenno that is told in the universe of Warframe - a bit like the Iliad was a legend on the beginning of Greece and the Aeneid was one on the beginning of Rome: heavily changed and embellished and personalized stories that contain a grain of truth. But that's only what I think.

Last DEVstream confirmed that at some point we will see "more". We don't know if we'll ever see actual enemies from Dark Sector - although, with the arrival of the Sentients, it's not even that impossible.

Pretty much everything you say has already been noted by the community, but it's nice to have another lore-hunter on-board. In the latest Devstream (51), the developers said that they're definitely NOT done with Proto skins yet, so I guess we're just to wait and see...

EDIT: Ninja'd.

Does anyone know how exactly the Tenno came to be? From what I understand, Hayden's "Warframe" abilities came from the Technocyte virus (and inadvertently), yet we, the Tenno, were normal children from the Orokin era who were sent to the Void to receive the same "Warframe" abilities, but on a different scale. The Warframe, I believe, which is apparently made from the Technocyte virus, allows us to efficiently and safely harness the powers of the Warframe itself without the excruciating pain Hayden had to go through.

I will continue adding to this.

If you think of Hayden Tenno as a tenno like us, then you are wrong.

If the current Tenno are considered the valid Tenno, Hayden isn't Tenno.

If Hayden is a valid Tenno, we aren't valid Tenno. Why? Because of the way we got out powers. One was infected, and the other one was sent tobthe void.

Am I the only one that reading the title thought "........operator,i though you had to know."

Yes? Ok, well I do love Ordis.

Btw, nice OP!

"I've been thinking, Operator...I thought you'd want to know." -Ordis

Oh god, i even hear ordis voice in my head when i read the title.

on-topic : Yeah, DE already stated Dark sector and warframe kinda related. Just like the name, hayden is the prototype of our frames. The first, the pioneer, the uncomplete one.

What if Hayden was the accident, never meant to be. We are simply a second generation. The Infested, I believe Phorid and the older version of J3-Golem, said that we were their flesh, their "brothers and sisters." Also, the Infested apparently evolved because the Dark Sector version and the Warframe version look different from one another.

Perhaps, the Orokin uncovered the story regarding Hayden Tenno, and decided to use his accidental template as a way to win the war against the Sentients. Therefore, the children sent into the Void after some "scientific testing and experimentation with the use of the Technocyte virus" became what we call the Tenno. I think the name itself, "Tenno", was actually adopted.

So therefore, I do not consider Hayden Tenno to be the first Tenno like us. He was the weapon that was never meant to be yet he became the template for us, the Tenno.

What if we are merely clones? Think of it this way, in Star Wars, Jango Fett was the template for the clone army. What if, the Orokin used Hayden as the clone template, for the current Tenno? Based on the recent lore we received from Simaris regarding the Anti-MOA scans, the Orokin cloned themselves. I assume that upon discovery of Hayden when the Technocyte virus (Infested) failed to deal with the Sentients, the Orokin used Hayden + parts of the virus to create us with the usage of the Void to act as the catalyst.

Edit: Fixed a few mistakes

The one you know as the Nemesis Nyx was supposed to kill Hayden Tenno, the one you know as Proto Excalibur. Therefor he is an accident. The virus didin't infect well if i recall. Your theory indeed makes sense.

A certain enemy called Chroma looks strikingly similar to the pelt the Warframe Chroma wears.

That makes a lot of sense. I can't remember where it's said, but Chroma's pelt is taken from some ancient creature and if it resembles the Chroma from Dark Sector, then it's entirely possible Chroma is named after both what his pelt was and his ability to change element. Therefore, if we say this is true, it kind of makes the idea of the Infestation being some kind of altered Technocyte a lot more realistic - before the Orokin got into using the Infested in a new strain designed as either a way to create Warframes or as a way to fight Sentients, there must have been Technocyte-ridden creatures around Earth which is where Chroma picked up his Chroma pelt.

I'm just rambling here and I don't know if what I said makes sense, but yeah.

DE said that Dark Sector and Warframe exists in the same universe, but in different times. Warframe being 1000 years in the future, and this 1000 years is when the battle between the Orokin Empire and the Sentients happened.

We will likely see more content down the road but I'm okay with it the proto skins and Nemesis skins are badass so I hope DE keep doing great things

If we see some ennemies from Dark Sector , the games will be damn good , I can just remember those "infested" or whatever mutated thing its was being true devil , invisibility , magic stuff they throw etc

The only thing I know of Chroma is that it was a vicious little monster that didn't fly, BUT due to he technocyte virus all those infected, and mutated grew hard metal like skin. Which might be why the Warframe Chroma while wearing the pelt has more armor. They also turned invisible too...

All the things the pelt does for the warframe however are different, and unrelated outside of extra armor.

We need to get a Simaris scan for the Infested.

I don't know how many times I've had to explain this... Everything from Dark Sector that's in Warframe, is an easter egg. In the exact manner that the Halo series is full of Marathon references. They're easter eggs from an un-related game.

If things from Dark Sector are being incorporated into Warframe every few months or so, causing everyone to question certain aspects of the lore, why would you still consider these things unrelated when they are clearly beginning to change the direction of the game? According to what EvilKam has said regarding Devstream 10, if the developers themselves have confirmed that Dark Sector and Warframe are related and in the same universe, then your statement is flawed.

I believe that in Devstream 10, it was confirmed that darkSector was a predecessor to Warframe's history, thus, not only are they related, they are the same universe.

I've heard that the devs confirmed it is related, I've heard that they've said it isn't. I'm going with isn't, and sticking to: It's easter eggs. Which they are.
