The Red Veil And You

So I got into some pretty good debates about the syndicates lately and it got me thinking about them.  Their dual natures, their pros and cons, who's good and who's bad.  The standout is Red Veil.  Pretty much everyone I talked to hates Red Veil.  And that got me thinking, what are Red Veil's redeeming qualities?  How do they operate?  What do they do, and why?

The Red Veil is led by a mysterious individual about whom little is known.  They're dedicated and loyal to their cause.  They aspire to achieve balance in the Origin System and are described as being quite honorable, but don't seem to live up to it.  In practice, however, they're viewed by everyone else as violent terrirosts running around at the word of their enigmatic leader butchering people and blowing stuff up in the name of achieving vaguely-defined objectives with no real master plan that they know about.

And we, the Tenno, love to hate them for it.

We, the Tenno, who are led by a mysterious individual about whom little is known.  We Tenno who are dedicated and loyal to our cause.  We Tenno who aspire to achieve balance in the Origin System and are described as being quite honorable, but don't seem to live up to it.  We Tenno who are viewed by everyone else as violent terrorists running around at the word of our enigmatic leader butchering people and blowing stuff up in the name of achieving vaguely-defined objectives with no real master plan that we know about.

We love to hate the Red Veil, but what does that say about us?  They are us.  They're following our example.  And we hate them for it.

You are a fire.  As feared as you are respected.

Before syndicates were around the red veil felt like the Rebel alliance.

Now its the steel meridian that feels more like the rebellion, and the red veil seems more like the sith empire.. ( If that makes any sense )

That doesn't make sense since the Meridian and the Veil are both allied, thus the comparisons kinda fall flat. A better comparison would be using classifying them as Paragon or Renegade like in Mass Effect since they both want the same thing. Meridian's methods would be the Paragon method, protecting the weak, innocent and helpless when the danger comes, you know you can count on them to do the right thing ethically. Veil's methods would be the Renegade method, removing the threats to the weak, innocent and helpless by any means necessary before they can harm anyone, thus they are more morally grey or even dark grey given their good intentions but extremist execution of said intentions.

Exactly! definitely better explained.

OP's right, and for everyone saying "oh it's all without purpose" - no. There's a very clear purpose. They're allied with Steel Meridian and they want to purge corruption, so fit the puzzle pieces together and realise that the Red Veil are trying to tear down the Grineer and tear down the Corpus in revenge for what they've done to colonies, even resorting to using the Infested to this end. Red Veil's a sword, Meridian's a shield. Where's Morec0 when you need him, he explains this far better than me.

You dare compare our Glorious Lotus to those psychotic f*ckers?!

You say that without even proposing a reason why the Lotus is any different when a clear comparison's already made in the OP.

The Veil's honestly more complex that most of the other Syndicates. Some people see them as edgy terrorists, others see them as heroes who aren't afraid to get their hands dirty to save people, yet others think that they are just villains on work-release (like DC's Suicide Squad). No one knows what their intentions are beyond what was already stated before so all those could be equally valid.

The other syndicates are a lot more simple in comparison. The Meridian's the boring, dependable one who picks up after the mess the Veil made. The Cephalons are too preoccupied with knowledge (not unlike nerds perpetually studying). Perrin's out to make money. Hexis is just a bunch of elitist jerks. Loka's the worst, a bunch of purity fanatics who will undoubtedly turn on the Tenno for their transhuman/superhuman-ness.

Wow, 4 salty replies in a row xD

Salty?

I'm not salty, just informing you of our evil overlord's corrupt use of the Tenno.

You can't say she's not overly suspicious when she tells her loyal soldiers absolutely nothing about the world around them other than it's unbalanced.

She's secretly a Grineer councilor who is using the Tenno to attain higher positions of power.
