ARCHWING REWORKED

 

From Devstream 60 summary: 

 

Archwing in 17.5

 

Update 17.5 is going to feature a lot of new Archwing content, but with all the feedback we've received on Archwing since launch it also makes a perfect time to give our space-combat game mode a mechanical overhaul. Here's a quick list of some of the improvements we have in mind that will go live in 17.5.

  • HUD adjustments will now show where enemies are along the peripherals of your vision, instead of the minimap.
  • Enemy scaling has been adjusted, and enemies will be more aggressive.
  • Enemies will use more strategic combat maneuvers rather than slowly surround Tenno.
  • XP values of enemies have been adjusted to help reduce the time in leveling Archwings and weapons.
  • We're currently experimenting with an afterburner for Archwing that kicks in after a certain amount of time spent boosting.
  • This update will definitely address many of the previous complaints about Archwing, such as enemy pathing and lull times in combat.

NEW WEAPONS (Jordas Hub confirmed)

  - Utilize the compact but deadly Sonicor to blow away targets with sonic force

 - The twin-linked Convectrix laser cannon will cut fry enemies at a distance with its converging laser circuits.

 - Make your punches lethal as you strap on Tekko. (melee sparring or brawling)

 - Cut down the opposition in the vacuum of space with Kaszas. (Archwing melee)

 - The Phaedra will assist in filling free-space enemies with a slew of large caliber bullets. (Arch-gun)

 - Boar rework (unconfirmed for U17.5 but coming)

 

 

VALKYR REWORK

What we know so far (unless DE changed without warning)

Rip Line

 - faster casting of Rip Line

 - Rip Line should cost less/ nothing after the first cast until Valkyr lands (integrate augment into base skill)

 - No word on a possible replacement for the augment

Hysteria

 - Now a toggle

 - scales from mods but not weapon

 - inspired by Excal's EB rework. 

 - Not clear if she retains invulnerability or whether there are more changes

  • Duration Mods now have an effect on toggled Abilities.
    • For example: Mods that added 100% duration will make a 10 Energy drain become a 5 Energy drain.
  • Drain-Per-Second and other adjustments has been made on the following Toggled Abilities:
    • CHROMA's Spectral Scream now drains 3 Energy.
    • EMBER's World on Fire now drains 3 Energy and has had its maximum duration removed.
    • EQUINOX's Rest & Rage has had its base range doubled.
    • HYDROID can now recast Tempest Barrage and Tentacle Swarm with no cooldown.
    • NYX's Chaos no longer has a cooldown, and enemies affected by Chaos cannot be stunned by additional casts.

LOOT Names now show on items in the floor.

Hype leads to dissapointment

 

Only if you let it disappoint you, most cases I just wait in excitement without the massive need for hoping time will fly by. I do other things like play the game as it is now.

 

But if you really want to hype away.

Don't hype, trust me

 

You should only hype what you KNOW is real. I, for instance, am hyping valkyrs skin. Why? Cause the devstresam showed me what it'll look like and I feel safe in the knowledge I will love it.

 

The new corpus enemies however I do not know much about, as such, Id on't care

 

 

 

Anyway, back to MY hype

NEW ARCHWING STUFF: 

 

Reworked UI, players are supposed to turn with momentum, which is more spaceship-y. Should be a good change! Hopefully Y-axis gets unlocked too.

 

Archwing is currently in alpha-quality, hope it gets to at least beta-quality in this iteration. 

 

Oh and new Archwing mission types!

 

Plus everything else of course.

i dont wanna say dont hype, because its very easy to hype when you love the game...

 

but i will say this: control your hype. dont overhype because chances are its NOT what youre expecting. We dont have enough information to have reasonable expectations. 

 

Im glad for new archwing content. Im glad for skins. I'll wait for anything more till i read patch notes.
