(PSN)NearlyDedicated
Hey fellow Tenno! Some of you may know me from the Tenno language endeavors, or as the leader of Belka clan. Today I bring you another project of mine: a ceramic Skana replica! I'll be working on it these next few days, and will post progress reports on this thread through its completion. Be sure to follow this thread! 30 September 2015: http://i.imgur.com/nZMJNs.jpg Carved out the basic structure, and added Tenno inscriptions. About one meter in length. 1 October 2015: http://imgur.com/a/1o6gu The clay was hard enough today to pick up the Skana. This allowed me to sharpen the blade and add symmetry. However, the kiln measures just under the size of the Skana -- so I had to detach the hilt from the blade. Once both pieces have been bisque fired, glazed, and glaze fired, they will be reattached for the complete project :] I also attached some pictures of me holding each piece, to give a sense of scale. The hilt fits comfortably in my hand, as I was basing its measurements off that. The blade has incriptions in Tenno-script, one being a poem, and the other being a Bible verse*. Disclaimer: in no way am I affiliated with Digital Extremes, nor am I promoting violence in the name of religion. The Skana is strictly and simply a decorative piece. 5 October 2015: http://imgur.com/a/prKSS Came out of the kiln today. Added a base layer of paint, and glued pieces together. The glue prevents a glaze, but i think it looks pretty good. 6 October 2015: http://imgur.com/a/sqc7Z Finished today! Sanded down rough edges. It still has an organic form to it, as is expected -- this skana was made without the use of clay tools. I intend to make a more perfected version in the future. For now, I'm proud of this one. Thoughts? Post them below! Edited October 6, 2015 by (PS4)NearlyDedicated
