I just need around 2 million-ish to max out specific parts of the school I'm focusing on.

Depends on what you're doing.

In my experience, including 'convergence' and before boosters, 100k is around an hour of constructed Draco-farm, 2-3 hours of grouped high level survival, or 8+ hours of 'general' gameplay.

So 2m would be 20 times that.

if DE decides to further cripple their Focus system (latest lens nerf, before you gained 5% with a normal lens, now 1.25%!!!) they can just delete the whole feature (which is lacking anyways)
