My excal is built for a mobility and power situations.

health and shield mods, including vigor,

Intensify,

streamline,

mobolize,

cunning drift, (exilus slot)

steel charge (aura)

flow(primed)

armored agility.

Keep in mind that I have forma'd him 3 times.  You should be able to fit all of the normal mods on if you keep them low ranked (halfway on the health and shields)

My general use build looks something like this:

Energy Syphon / Corrosive Projection, Enemy Sense
Transient Fortitude, Stretch
Streamline, Fleeting Expertise (R3)
Primed Continuity, Constitution
Armored Agility, Vitality

You could easily replace Fleeting Expertise and Constitution
with Rage and Steel Fiber though I've done fine so far
using cheap Radial Blinds to largely avoid getting hit, heh.

This is my general use EB Build. Don't use a Max Fleeting if you don't have to but otherwise this is mostly geared to deal with post Sorties enemies.

You're highly reliant on Blind later in levels so Stretch is a must. You can also go with Naramon - Shadow Step. But I don't use Steel Fiber because later in levels it makes little difference.

This build also works with Javs if you need it.

Leave your Aura slot un-polarized if possible. You want Access to Corrosive Projection. I also run Rush because Excal can sprint at full speed while spamming Exalted Blade. I drop to a lower Rank one if I want to slot Corrosive Projection aura but if you choose another Exilus mod it will fit either way.

In terms of the weapon....

Go Crit based no Blood Rush, no Body Count. Use Primed Fury (If you have it) + Berserk and  90%x2 if you don't have Primed Fury ranked use Molten Impact the difference is minimal. You can go with a status Gas build instead of Crit. Both are effective in different ways.

You can always use a Radial Blind build.

CP/ES, Power Drift
Continuity (Primed), Constitution
Stretch, Cunning Drift
R4 Streamline, R4 Fleeting Expertise
Overextended, Radiant Finish

Or an EB Build

CP, PD
Continuity (Primed), Constitution
Intensify, Transient Fortitude
Streamline, Fleeting Expertise
Rage, Quick Thinking
