So does that mean Umbra WILL be it's own separate frame?

It's 2017 bound, not 'next couple of years.' Cinematics are not easy to make, and with the size of DE taken into consideration, it all adds up.

First things first you're the one that needs to start paying attention as Umbra has been completed for a long time. The only thing that is keeping it from being released is not development, its a time exclusive agreement they have with China. Not saying it should have been release by now ether, as I don't give two...

Secondly. In the last Dev Stream Steve and Jeff said that based on the latest poll (posted by Drew I think) a lot of people will be disappointed.

Why should we even care?! More likely than not its just going to be an excalibur skin with a scarf. They teased a new system so maybe you'll have to grab some booster halfway across the level before you're allowed to activate your abilities for 10 seconds, huzzah. The hype isnt worth it.

Umbra will be released during U20 with the third cinematic quest in the Second dream trilogy, as confirmed by DE. They will begin work on U20 before the end of the year since TWW is the last major content release planned for U19, which by their last dates estimates will be early October. It took them roughly 4 months to make U19 as it stands now. We still have two full months to go before this year ends. That would mean that people could easily expect U20's cinematic quest first quarter 2017.

That kind of thinking just shows that you don't care enough to even look up anything regarding Umbra. If you don't care that much, why are you even commenting on it?

I'm salty about umbra. For the amount of time we've waited the product will never fullfil the hype. Also since theres a million of these threads around I may as well do my part to curb the enthusiasm.

 

Also "this kind of thinking" is the product of 3 years of content releases from DE. The new system you're all hyped for will be something grindy. Unless excal actually has new powers it's a skin, just like a prime.

Umbra is a timed exclusivity deal and it won't come to Global build soon, also if you/ we want Umbra right now then DE must provide Changyu build with another exclusive something to compensate for releasing their Founder item to us, would you want that to happen? do you want DE to keep making exclusive items which we will want and may end up screaming at them for doing so even though its us who asked them to give Changyu items before they can deliver it to us without pissing off Changyu crowd?

Or better yet, release Excal prime to their build and Changyu will release Umbra Excal to Global build, tough call to make for DE :(

I want dat scarf, that's all :P

We aren't getting their Excalibur Umbra Prime but Excalibur Umbra. Since DE has stated that it will be visually identical (5% or so difference) then it should only be a reduction in stats so it won't be prime.

A lot of people are always disappointed, no matter what. Steve could bring about peace in the Middle East and there would still be salt.

Read my post closer. I do mention the new system. For the sake of posterity, I separated the system from the reskin of excalibur, if you really want to gnit pick knock yourself out. I still think the new system will be something grindy and something we all come to loathe. How many of you enjoy farming focus?

Confirmed information by the developers, when it comes to Umbras. There isn't enough elsewhere to go off of to even begin to speculate with any hope of accuracy as to what the "new mechanic" will be. Lore speculation? doable since there is a lot of links and comparisons to go off of. New mechanic speculation? A shot in the dark by a blind man moving at a hundred miles an hour while spinning, hoping to hit a pinprick target.
