Oberon: Rework concept

Oberon is known as the Paladin frame, and paladins are known for going head first into battle and holding the line. However, in warframe Oberon is more like a druid. I think it's time we looked into the paladin and made him the legend he should be. So, i've taken some time and created what i believe would be a better Oberon.

Smite: Currently, smite hits one target and fans out aiming for multiple targets. This is fantastic! Nothing to change here.

Hollowed Ground: Throwing down a carpet in front of you, you become immune to procs, allowing you to stay in the fight longer, along with damaging enemies. This is sort of an "anchor" skill. Meaning that once you place it down, you  stay there for a while. It feels weird that on activation, you have to walk forward a bit to get the full benefits, even with your team mates. Solution: Make it a ring casted around oberon instead. Players ahead, behind, or even to the left of oberon will get the benefits instantly, and enemies that come in close will start to be damaged by it. The anchor skill is better off this way.

Renewel: Healing your allies with orbs of health and increasing their bleedout timer. For healing, its neat. However, compared to any other frame that can give allies healing, or even a health pad, it's lacking in use. And with the cost of energy being high to get lasting benefits out of it, there's very few reasons to use renewel. Solution: Make it give an armor bonus instead. Paladins in most MMO's are known for reducing damage hitting their allies in fights. Having him give armor or shielding will pull him out of the healer's job and move him into a buffer zone, which makes him a better choice for sorties, or endless missions.

Reckoning: Lifting your enemies into the air and striking them down with radioactive force. This skill is really good for mashing, and for health orbs it's fantastic. However it's very boring in use. I have a lot of ideas running through my head on this one, but none of them are concrete. On one end, i'd like for him to have an exalted shield and mace that can he bang together to create ripples of healing and armor, albeit not much. On another end, i'd like for him to have a Knights of the Round-like skill where enemies are struck from every direction with ethereal swords.

These are my thoughts on Oberon and a possible rework that could come to him. I tried to make sure the skills weren't overly extreme in gameplay change, but more in utility change. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, and even an alternative to Reckoning since I can't offer a better solution to what we have currently.

TL;DR: Hollowed ground now a ring, Renewel now gives armor instead of health, Reckoning switched with something else.

Thank you for your time.

I think the suggestion for Hallowed Ground is fine but think that Renewal should be kept healing; bleed-out help; and status removal since Hallowed Ground already gives armor though also giving status removal and immunity while standing in its area. Allowing for Hallowed Eruption to keep the carpet version should be enough for those that like it similar to currently implemented. Reckoning is actually a pretty useful move, though its design hinges upon it doing killing blows for a chance at life orbs. Overall though, Reckoning is a move that does a good amount for its cost, irradiating foes, medium damage, temporary disable, and chance of giving life orbs. Mostly, the issue with Oberon is he is more or less designed as a Paladin, a generalist fighter/healer in an environment that is geared to specialists.

I'm honestly fine with Oberon's powers EXCEPT for Hallowed Grounds which is useless af. As many have suggested, it should be radial kinda like Nidus' 4. I personally would like it better if it along with Oberon.

You've got some good ideas here. Just like the vast majority of people who have ever played oberon, I agree that hallowed ground should be a radial ability. The magic carpet just doesn't work, or make sense to me.

On renewal: I have always thought that oberon SHOULD be able to at least gain a niche foothold in the healer group. Sure, nothing on par with trinity, but at least enough to make him a viable team healer choice in certain scenarios. To accomplish this, I've proposed that renewal work like this: when you cast renewal, and when renewal's orbs reach allies, it heals allies for a base amount, and then applies a regeneration effect that does NOT drain energy as a channeled after-effect. Simply, flat regeneration of x health per second, with the duration being positively affected by duration mods. The regeneration's current channeled effect is clunky, doesn't synergize at all with oberon's cast-heavy playstyle, and it disappears when the target reaches full health. Remove all of this. That will, at the very least, make renewal a proper heal/buff combo ability, which appears to be what it was meant for to start with.

On reckoning: I've always somewhat liked reckoning how it is, though I think that health orbs should have a chance to drop from all enemies, not just those killed by the ability. This gives the ability more scalability.

As for the exalted sword and shield weapon you propose, I will say that I'm not usually a fan of these ideas in oberon reworks. I'm not entirely opposed to such an idea, I just don't think it really fits well with the way oberon currently plays. Given a more in-depth description, I'd be able to add a more specific opinion on the matter, but for now I'm a bit pressed for time.

Well it can be very useful against status enemys, i often use him agaisnt Vay Hek Sortie, the ground makes you immune to his energy drain.

Or Sargas Ruk, nothing will puta fire Dot on you. I defintly not call it useless, it needs just a tweek like beeing casted around him instead rolling it out like a carpet.
