Quickuse/Shortcut for Gear

I've seen some ppl using their Items from the Gear Wheel with key combination or sth like that.

Why am I asking this? I don't know who many times I died because I was too slow to get to my Health Restore.

Same goes for Cipher. There are times I have to look for my Cursor because I'm too "blind" to see it in the first blink.

 

Is there any ingame setting option to do so or do they use some kind of macro?

Key binding options have keybindings for every gear slot. They're unbound by default.

Ciphers don't have a Keybind though, they're hardbound to uh...... Y maybe? i don't remember.
(which is also supposed to be vote yes for current Mission too - except last i checked it was vote no)
