Many games do in-game surveys of their players on important issues (or just randomly) and I think Warframe would gain valuable data doing so.  Most players don't use forums and they are in no way representative of the community.

Polls are only useful if they also ask entries to explain reasoning why they feel a certain way.
otherwise it's no more useful than anything you find on a Forum. less so, infact.

Depends entirely on the question, but yes that's common practice from the games I've seen it in.  As misleading as a poor question could be it doesn't compare to the same 30 players being viewed as the entire voice for a playerbase of thousands..  A survey is at least concrete data and not pure assumption.
