Making Energy Conversion store its effect similar to Health Conversion

Heyooo~

Although the Health Conversion (HC) still is not in good shape (charges get consumed when your Shields receive the damage while our HP and Shields are completely different things), the recent Health Conversion changes:

Quote

Hotfix 20.7.1

  • The Health Conversion Mod now activates upon taking damage instead of getting hit. Previously, Warframes (like Valkyr, Rhino or Nezha) that have abilities that make themselves invincible to damage, were consuming the conversion when hit even though no damage was being done due to invincibility. This rendered the Health Conversion Mod rather useless, and has since been changed to improve functionality.

made me think of its Energy counterpart: why doesn't Energy Conversion (EC) effect stack while it could, too? But not in terms of boosting Power Strength to 50%/100%/150% for each orb, no, it would make things stupidly OP.

Instead, picking up 3 energy orbs w/o using powers after would simply store a 50% bonus for 3 power casts (currently the effect applies to last orb you've picked up). There are many power combinations or mult-casts within a single warframe, like Saryn, or Octavia:

say, we have 100% Power Strength and picked up 2 energy orbs and then casted the Mallet -- the bonus 50% Strength is applied and consumed, so casting the Resonator after will result in the current, non EC affected, Power Strength which is 100% even though we picked up 2 orbs. This makes us look for another orb.

How it can be (getting 2/3 charges):

We've got 2 orbs and the visual effect of Energy Conversion gets an additional charge floating around. We're casting the Mallet again and first charge is applied and consumed (Mallet is 150% Str buffed), this leaves us with the last charge we have from a second energy orb we picked up, we're casting the Resonator and the bonus 50% Str gets applied and consumed as well (Resonator is 150% Str buffed), so we had 2 energy orbs and 2 powers, casting them both consumed both EC charges with +50% Str per cast.

This change would be extremely useful for caster warframes given the fact that Energy Conversion's effect isn't affected by powers like Energy Vampire, or mods like Rage/Equilibrium, or consumables. It would also fix the issue when you're at max energy pool (especially when it was restored by multiple orbs) but w/o casting a power can't gain a 50% Str buff. Or when you already casted a power milliseconds after picking up the orb but before the EC is triggered.

Thing is is that there is a big mechanical difference between the two and also a difference in frequency.

The frequency difference is that energy orbs are a lot more common then health orbs. So they are a lot more important to store multiple of.

The mechanical difference is control. next to health orbs being more precious you ALSO have the fact that you have a lot less control over when you are going to lose a stack, you cant plan around a stray bullet, you can however plan around a single use power strength stack as its controlled by you and you only (well... unless you count that very rare moment where infested salad V takes over and casts an ability)

So all in all having Energy conversion stacking would be somewhat equal to just having 50% extra powerstrength constantly unless you are spamming none stop like saryn or something, But why would you even run that mod on a spore build even with stacking.

I like the sound of it, sure. But when I break it down it just looks like the mod loses its one only weakness.

Eh, does anyone actually use HC on Frames other than Nekros (and maybe Oberon)?

Mostly yes, that is why that mod has those stacks mostly. as it would be very useless with only 1 if it was not overhauled completely in such a case.

Hmmm... yeah.

Conversion will trigger when aided by an ally using the Energy Spike passive from the Zenurik Focus school. This can allow a player to receive more than one Conversion proc from the same energy orb, as long as they are within its radius.

I can see how OP it can be, ah well
