Tigris Prime + Vicious Spread?

Question

I'm building a Corrosive/Blast status build for Tigris Prime - Primed Point Blank, Hell's Chamber, 4 elemental status mods.  That leaves 2 slots with a bit of wiggle room for personal preference.  I like Seeking Fury to get that Punch-through, so just need 1 more pick before I forma again.

I'm considering Vicious Spread; the base damage increase will boost the Slash proc damage, and from what i hear Tigris Prime has a really tight spread so perhaps the bigger spread will be a benefit or at least not much of a hindrance?

That said, I haven't seen anyone else use Vicious Spread in their builds, and I'm curious why.  I've mostly seen Blaze and Sweeping Serration.  I personally don't want to use Blaze because 1 Blast proc is enough and I don't want to give them more weight.  And to me, Sweeping Serration seems to go against the theme of a status build because the additional Slash damage won't add damage to the Slash procs, and with the 4x IPS weighting it already seems like they'll proc a lot.

I would love to jear what you think about these 3 mods and the benefits and drawbacks of each.  Maybe there's something I'm missing?

Thanks for the help!

Vicious Spread is the superior choice over Sweeping Serration when using Corrosive + Blast in terms of scaling armor.

Vicious Spread is superior against unarmored targets.

Punch-Through + Vicious Spread work well together to create a slight cone of damage.

I use Sweeping Serration for Viral + Rad and Vicious Spread for Corrosive + Blast both with Punch-Through.

In terms of scaling enemies, Corrosive + Blast actually scales better but sometimes that Radl proc is very handy against Ancient Healers. There's nothing worse than unloading both shots into something and doing nothing.

This is the math behind Vicious Spread Vs. Sweeping Serration....

Spoiler

Tigris Prime (Sweeping Serration)
1560 Damage (80% Slash) Crit 10% x2, 8 Pellet Count, 30% Status
Primed Point Blank
1560 * ( 1 + 1.65) =  4134 Damage
Sweeping Serration
4134 * 0.8 = 3,307.2 * 1.2 = 3968.4 Slash
Elementals
4134 * (0.6 + 0.6) = 4,960.8 Rad / 4,960.8 Viral
Multishot
(4,134 + 4,960.8 + 4,960.8 + 3,968.4) / 8 = 2,253 Damage per Pellet
8 * (1 + 1.2) = 17.6
2,253 * 17.6 = 39,652.8
Damage per Shot
39,652.8 * (1 + (1- 2) * 0.1) = 43,618.08

Status
Status Trigger per Shot = 17.6
Slash Weight (3968.4 + 3307.2) / (2480.4 + 3968.4 + 4134) = 0.6875 = 68.75%
Elemental Weight 2480.4 / 10,582.8 = 0.2344 = 23.44%
Elemental Trigger per Shot
17.6 * 0.2344 = 4.125

Avg Slash Trigger per Shot
17.6 * 0.6875 = 12.1
Avg Bleed Damage per Tick
(4134 / 8) * (1 + ( 1- 2) * 0.1) * 0.35 = 198.95
Avg Bleed Damage per Proc
198.95 * 7 = 1,392.64
Avg Bleed Damage per Shot
1,392.64 * 12.1 = 16,850.96

Estimated Total Damage per Shot
43,618.08 + 16,850.96 = 60,469.04

Tigris Prime (Vicious Spread)
1560 Damage (80% Slash) Crit 10% x2, 8 Pellet Count, 30% Status
Primed Point Blank + Vicious
1560 * ( 1 + 1.65 + 0.9) =  5,538 Damage
Elementals
5,538 * (0.6 + 0.6) = 6,645.6 Rad / 6,645.6 Viral
Multishot
(5,538 + 6,645.6 + 6,645.6) / 8 = 2,353.65 Damage per Pellet
8 * (1 + 1.2) = 17.6
2,353.65 * 17.6 = 41,424.24
Damage per Shot
41,424.24 * (1 + (1- 2) * 0.1) = 45,566.664

Status
Status Trigger per Shot = 17.6
Elemental Weight 3322.8 / (3322.8 + 5538) = 0.375 = 37.5%
Slash Weight 4430.4 / 8860.8 = 0.5 = 50%
Avg Elemental Trigger per Shot
17.6 * 0.375 = 6.6

Avg Slash Trigger per Shot
17.6 * 0.5 = 8.8
Avg Bleed Damage per Tick
(5538 / 8) * (1+ (1- 2) * 0.1) * 0.35 = 266.5163
Avg Bleed Damage per Proc
266.51625 * 7 = 1,865.614
Avg Bleed Damage per Shot
1,865.614 * 8.8 = 16,417.4

Estimated Total Damage per Shot
(45,566.664 + 16.417.4) = 61,984.065

Sweeping seration for unarmored enemies and slightly more slash procs.

Vicious spread for more base damage and spread.

Chilling reload for faster reload + more cold damage.

Blaze for more fire and base damage.

I prefer chilling reload over the other 3 because the faster reload just makes it feel better to use against many enemies. Also, if you're using rad/viral then viral will proc more often than rad.

Depends on how far you like to shoot enemies from. Vicious Spread is good if you're already close to enemies so you can hit multiple enemies if they're in tight groups, but not necessarily lined up properly. The tighter spread without it helps with medium range sniping when there are a lot of big open tiles. I personally use Sweeping Serration for the increased bleed, but sometimes I'll switch it out for Contagious Spread so that I can give the status procs a bigger bias towards either Viral or Corrosive.

From what I read on the Warframe wiki...

http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Damage_2.0/Slash_Damage

"Base damage mods and combo multipliers will increase the damage of bleed ticks while mods increasing Slash bSlash damage will not."

Is this accurate still?

Yes this is still accurate.  One of the notes mentions why you would want to increase Slash damage.  The more you increase Slash damage the greater the chance there is of having Slash procs as opposed to one of the other physical damage types.

This. I made a thread a while back asking why people were using Sweeping Serration on Tigris Prime when IPS damage mods are generally not considered worth the slot they take up. The result was that, when comparing Sweeping Serration and Vicious Spread, their overall damage was about equal. The difference was primarily in their Bleeds. Sweeping Serration resulted in less powerful Bleeds, but because Slash was a larger portion of the weapon's damage, those Bleeds occurred more often. Vicious Spread, on the other hand, had more powerful Bleeds, but Slash was a smaller portion of the weapon's damage, so those Bleeds didn't happen as often.
