New way to mine

the mining mechanics in plains is not that great it would be great for the mining gun to be use as some kind of scanner/beacon placer  to spawn resource thumper (ala firefall or excavation style) for us warframe to mine while defending against waves of enemies I think its much better then drawing doodles and get few resources while running around across the whole map.

indeed. The animal companions are able to harvest plant resources, so having Wyrm,able to mine isn't that much of a stretch. PLus it would boost a frame that is pretty MR fodder and nothing else.

As much as i don't like the current mining mechanics and find it boring and the RNG and in general randomness behind it annoying this would get old fast, actually it already did since we already have Excavation missions, no need for copy-pasting the same content to the Plains.

Simaris could sell some kinds of upgrades for the mining lasers though similar to the scanner widgets to tone down the RNGness and help with finding nodes and other things that could improve the current mechanics and stat upgrades at the cost of requiring more interaction.

I agree, penta's grenades should work to mine things quickly and explosively
