Buff Galatine Range

Buff the range to the actual size of the model. For those of you who don't know, the actual reach is only half the length of the blade. This is apparent when you put on a prime reach.

It's a big issue for me, because I use it on my loki. I have to hit the enemy without touching them for the damage multiplier. If the range is crap, then it's nigh impossible. :s

Alright, galatine is a weapon that's in an actually pretty good spot at the moment(thus why this comment originally pointed out that this was next to a galatine nerf thread). It's in the ideal area where people fight over whether its overpowered or underpowered, which means few can agree on its actual status as a weapon in good or bad tier. Ideally, this is where you want a weapon to be, so why buff it?

Damage is fine, reach is unacceptable for the speed and size of the model.

i would totally support: effective double to the Range of Galatine, while reducing Damage by ~30%.

 

making it rather than a direct upgrade from Gram and Scindo Prime being an effective upgrade from Galatine - that Galatine would be something different, having huge Range, good Status, usable Crits, and fairly good Damage but not as much as the smaller, more focused Heavy Blade options.

 

I've heard that the effective hitbox was only half the blade's lenght, is that true ? Seems absurd if it is

this is pretty common with Melee Weapons, of having less Range than they look like they have. some have more, and a few are actually accurate.

Nope nope nope. It's worse than Scindo Prime already in terms of RAW OUTPUT, since scindo has better crit and is more berserker viable. No damage nerf is needed. As in, actually buff it to 130 to make to clear they should have parity overall.

 

You know you deal 0 damage if you can't even hit your enemy.

If I wanted a bandaid I would have gotten a school nurse.

Scindo Prime has more Damage

duh, that's what i was saying.

 

but to make Galatine an equal choice, it needs to do things differently. having high Status and a lot of Range is a good alternative choice to higher Damage but nowhere near as much Range.

furthermore, i could see Galatine having a closer to balanced IPS Spread rather than Slash heavy - so that it is more flexible across a variety of Enemy Types. say, 50% Slash, and 25% each Impact and Puncture.

which would make 43.75 Slash, and 21.875 Impact / Puncture. since i like even numbers i'd round those values to 44 and 22 though.

 

and hell, more Range if you'd like too, as that's the Archetype many are looking to go for with this Melee Weapon. ~1.5x the length of the Weapon?

 

Wasn't there a thread a while back stating that a melee range nerf from PvP leaked into PvE? Did they ever address that?

a 'preliminary fix' was pushed at some point. whether that helped or not i couldn't tell you.

I've tested, the galatine has almost twice the range of scindo prime, 3.5 metres compared to 2, and the blade is definitely not 3 metres long, with primed reach it goes up to 7 metres

Doesn't sound right at all. Can we get the tests?

 

It doesn't seem like it hits further than my frames are tall (~2m)

I support this change. It's not a buff at all. It's a fix of a possible glitch. I seriously think the hit box being half of the blade screws up with my play style because even though it looks like it's hitting the enemy, it really isn't. It's stupid. Dps is half that of Scindo prime, least they can do is fix the reach so that it has SOME perks over Scindo prime and Jat Kittag. A katana cannot have more reach than a great sword, that's just ridiculous. We need variety for heavy blade. Fixing hit box will due just nicely.
