Rolling and Block-Glide unresponsiveness after Bullet-Jump. This bug was recently fixed before this update, but now appears to be back. After bullet-jumping with Melee equipped, the player cannot immediately Block-glide + Roll. These inputs don't respond until the Waframe model has finished it's "twirling" animation out of the bullet-jump. This holds back more advanced parkour, and hopefully it can be addressed soon.

Apart from that, update feels great. Good job guys.

agreed indeed. Great job DE, my respect has been earned, I'll try to be present in the forums as much as in-game unlike before where I was just in-game. What melee hero Ofeban speaks of is true indeed, would love a fix for it but overall excellent job. Loving melee more than ever for me.

The changes were rough. I stopped using guns so my block function would work. But the new system looks slightly more complex to add flavor to the spin to win tenno.

I personally play with a controller and a mouse. I am not sure what I'll have to neglect on my controller to make it work. Though I'm pretty sure I can drop my fire weapon, change weapon, and action buttons on my controller to make room for the assassination (light), medium, and heavy attack buttons. Might remap to resemble a mortal Kombat style set up.

Change to melee mode when using melee to disable aim glide and bring back block glide. if you use "quick melee" in "ranged mode" it will keep quick swapping and aim glide.

Why on earth is auto blocking and FORCED aim glide still a thing? You also absolutely annihilated my zaw into oblivion.

    My feedback is "T R A S H"

you have to change your weapon state to melee by manually swapping to melee. Aim glide is not there when you change state. Read the patch notes.

    Hello.

So the new melee stuff is fine. Combos feel fine, channeling replaced with super duper heavy is fine. Happy to have block back and all of that, and I'm sure others are too.

What limits this new melee update, and it's something I've shouted about in the past (which of course, got ignored) is:

You don't. Need. Hold to switch. The quickswitch in Melee 2.9 was incredible, it brought about amazing flow to the game's combat. Truly wonderful. The problem with that was that blocking wasn't around, right? Understandable, but the solution is simpler. Let me break it down.

Old system: Press [Melee] to switch into full set of melee actions. > Press [Aim] or [Shoot] to switch into GUN and all it's features.

The more perceptive of you already see the problem with this. There's no reason for GUN to have 2 buttons which trigger it.

My solution: Press [Melee] to switch into full set of melee actions. Press [Aim] to block. > Press [Shoot] to switch to GUN. Press [Aim] to aim GUN.

This makes hold-switch obsolete, as both weapons gain their full set of actions, without any drawbacks.

    Conclusion:

Press [Melee] to attack with your currently equipped Melee Weapon and aquire it's full set. [Aim] becomes block.

Press [Shoot] to shoot with your currently equipped GUN and aquire it's full set. [Aim] becomes aim.

I would love to hear the explanation as to why this hasn't been added in the first place. But that won't happen.

So instead I hope to see this simple implementation in a reasonably close update.

    Thank you.

You still have quick switch available to you, what is your gripe about? quick melee quick switches to melee and aim quick switches to ranged. Stop bashing on the melee focused players. We NEED a state changing key.

Excuse me, but It took eight months for them to give back the feeling OF ACTUALLY HOLDING MY WEAPON. Don't give them ideas.

Switching should be faster, yes; which should have and still can be accomplished by INHERENTLY SPEEDING UP HOLSTER SPEEDS AND REMOVING THE MODS THAT INCREASE THAT SPEED.

Instead, they introduced an awkward, twitching change that ruined RMB combos, removed ability to aim-glide, messed up blocking, and felt as intangible as pixie dust.

And now, after all that, you want them to undo that rollback?

    Kindly, no.

If we go back to the twitchy disco laser flashes and no ability to lock into melee combat when they literally just added it back, I'm uninstalling.

    TELL EM!

  6. Melee is finally back! I can do something like a ninja instant transmission and slash my enemy dead and keep my back turned to them, and for the pesky too far away ones the ranged will handle them. no more snipe scoping through glides with my sniper and I can still rock my nikana!!!!!!!!!!! This is really awsome!!!!

    Greetings Tenno!

In brief, we owe you an update on Melee changes. Last Devstream had one remark about something maybe making it into Gauss’s Mainline, but this is no longer the case. You can see the clip here: as stated by Steve on Devstream #130.

We wanted to give you some insight into our process and why this decision was made.

The melee “beast” is a large one to tackle, and while we could add in some minor changes, the knock-on effects to other aspects of melee (such as Stances, blocking, Mods, Augments) may cause more issues than improvements. Frankly, we need to look at the system more holistically and make decisions based on thorough testing, and re-works of the varying components involved.

Those reworks are not going to make it into the system before our up and coming mainline update, and while we would have loved for these changes to make it sooner rather than later, we simply need more time to implement these changes to the expansive collection of melee systems in place.

What we can say with certainty is that your concerns have been heard, and they are at the forefront of our minds when we consider alterations. The changes to quick-melee, how channeling and blocking are affected all the way to how Valkyr’s power set has felt the knock-on effects of blocking changes. As we are sure you can understand, this transition will be much more complicated than the transition from Melee 1.0 to 2.0, and we want it to be the best that it can be.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, and we hope you enjoy all that the Mainline Update has to offer when it reaches you at supersonic speeds!

The glimmer of hope.... the last 2 words though, lol such great sarcasm implemented, please bear that in mind. On a serious note, Thank you for the response. My thanks was delayed but not as much of finally a response to this mess.

Good god, you're scaring me! Put that feeling away before we all have nightmares 😧

I really don't want the nightmare to come back, it has been so so sooooo long already, I am hoping update 26 is indeed the light at the end of the tunnel that has finally become visible. To hear that "we'll reach the tunnels end by next week" change to "ok not next week but we are close!" is definitely a cause for concern.

I never had a problem with the flashy special effects. I even liked the weapons teleporting into our hands (it IS a sci-fi game, and we teleport entire capture targets, so having our weapons stowed away in some "materialize when I need you" system was very cool to me - lets a ninja stay all stealthy and mobile without a whole arsenal hanging off their body.)

No. Just horribly no. I like my weapons how i like my car, manual transmission. oh yeeeeah! The special effects are actually pretty decent to be honest, presumably as time progresses they will be tweaked to look more realistic or appealing or however suits them best, but we need to see those weapons being drawn out all drastic it's showtime! lol

It used to say next week in this thread

But now it says "we're close", I guess they weren't as close as they thought. 4

Oh my word.....another wait for a new season all over again, I get the feeling this will be like GOT finale.*cries in fear for what is to come for melee*

I'm glad Sword Alone and manual blocking are returning with The Old Blood, but I am not turning back now. Those weren't my only two issues with Phase 1, and I'm not confident about Phase 2. I'm still gonna post what I've got, and with all fair warning to you guys, it's about 11,700 words plus screenshots. I had to be thorough; and a lot of things are still broken or visually annoying.

I appreciate that those two major concerns were at least adressed, but they weren't the only ones. Keep up the hard work, Digital Extremes; and for the record, the next time something proves massively controversial and less fun to use, respond faster than after more than eight months.

Been looking out for you M. Wondering when you were gonna poke up your head.

This thread will be used to house your feedback on Phase 1 of the Melee Revisit! No one knows the power of their Arsenal better than the Tenno - your adaptability and skill with the blade will be tested, and as we continue these changes, we rely on your feedback!

    Here’s what has changed:

Let The Gun & Blade Flow
Swap between your gun and melee at the press of a button, no holstering required! Combos can be executed and resumed between movement and more. Blocking is now automatic in melee mode when aiming at an attacking enemy. Your stance combos may have changed, check out the Stance interface!

I almost can't believe this nightmare has come to pass. I hope it never returns. Thanks again DE BEAR. Eagerly await to return to WF.

Phase 2 will be the death of Warframe. As a whole, melee is the most used weapon type in the game, and it has limited fall-off. This nerf is not only going to force people to reforma dozens of their weapons, but it will also kill the endurance run player base. This in my opinion is not a wise change.

Have you read through the entire list of the update?

I tried to keep up with it but I lost hope after a while and moved on to other things, seriously from a melee addict, thanks for keeping at it and letting our voices be heard.

My cheesy appreciation is over, now for the slightly salty part.
Thank you for listening DE, and for the love of god take what that first reply to the workshop thread with a pinch of salt, after all trying to merge melee and firearm combat in a scuffed way is what caused this problem

Thank you too, just glad to have a REAL melee system back, I do hope they plan to address the specific issues to frames and their play styles by players over time. was a long wait... DE BEAR is the Warframe Melee hero!  Bear that in mind LOL

"RETURN OF MANUAL BLOCKING AND MELEE STATE
Thanks to your feedback from Phase 1, manual blocking and a full Melee-only attack state have returned!"

THE SOUND of these words make me feel like life is not that bad!!!!!!!!!

Why not just bring back the option for a "Full Melee Mode" as a manual toggle like before?

This way the default mode is the new, quick firearm-to-melee and vice-versa (not the old "quick melee"), and then the old "full melee mode" which is purely melee that has manual blocking and doesn't switch out to primary/secondary weapons automatically. The latter lead to the loss of controlled aerial blocking with melee weapons unless you went in mission having only a melee weapon equipped.

It's been 6 months since this gameplay change was implemented and no further concrete plans seem to have been given in response to the feedback in this thread. Hopefully something before this year ends?

It really is this simple. Just bring "Full melee mode" back.

I said it once and I want to point it out again. I hope in Melee 3.0 we can hold E + arrow keys to perform all combos instead of keep pressing E.

    I'll give you an example:

I'm using Wukong Prime a lot lately and for the forward combo, I only like the first 3 hits, the left, the right and the swirling attacks, for the last ground slam, not a fan, at all. The last hit somehow makes me feel I lost momentum, the first 3 is very smooth and you slow down a bit while performing the last one and I hate it.

Secondly, the last hit will shake your camera and I have a pretty fast attack speed, I'm feeling nauseated.

Currently, the only way to not perform the last hit is to press E exactly 3 times while holding forward and who counts that while in a fight? What I want is to press and hold E, and when the swirling animation occurs, I release E so that last hit won't be executed.

And there are people complaining about auto blocking interrupts combat, if my suggestion is considered, the game can detect whether the player is still holding E, activate auto blocking only while E is release would solve the problem.

OOOOOOR just put it back the way it was and speed up weapon switch animations. All problems solved.

    Sorry for my bad language.

Seems DE just don't care about our comfort when we using melee. They won't to admit their mistake with this piece of sh*t that they called melee 2.5 and make a appearance that "all fine". All was normal with old 2.0 system, but NO, they need changes, they brake all system but MAKE CHANGES, no one need it but THEY WILL MAKE F*CK*N CHANGES! Almost year normal melee players suffer but we f*ck*n don't care. Yes DE? Nothing care when money going to your pockets, isn't it?

Don't know about others, but I don't need f*ckn autoblock. I don't need 3 times f*ck*n autochange weapon by RMB. I need to change weapon to melee when I hold F button, cause this is COMFORTABLE. I need to push RMB and make block when I use melee and not f*ck*n aiming. Not the F*CK*N aiming! Half combos of almost all melee weapons need holding block for making and I need to remove all other weapon just for using this without pain in my *ss. And its terrible, just nightmare. What are you doing DE?

I've been here since early pages of this post and throughout, I have lost hope in DE and Warframe, they killed it when they killed melee. Time to change the name to warfight: the ranged shooter game with swords just for show but no telling whatsoever. Just public announcements about the combos as if they are even usable at this point throwing you uncontrollably over cliffs and away from battles like the player is retarded, and to top it off the autoblock. I guess we don't know how to block for ourselves.
