I think DE is being really populist in their decisions.

People don't want pay to win. Boom. Platinum can be traded.

People want beta items because they won't there to get them. Boom. Onslaught has them.

People want the exclusive prime accessories in prime accesses but didn't buy them when they were out. Boom. Rotational unvaults.

People want founder items because they aren't founders. Boom. Reskin excalibur prime and make him slightly different so it doesn't breach the digital contract.

People want to feel better functionally than founders and make themselves feel okay to miss out the founder items. Boom. Make Umbral mods to power creep them out.

It seems DE is just dictated by the majority crowd.

Which frankly from a business standpoint makes sense.

They are free to play and even made the cash currency free to trade.

As such, they are slave to the majority in terms of income.

While I don't know how many non-founders actually do pay any cash significant enough to support the game, even if we assume percentagewise they are half of the founders who continue spending money, nominally their numbers will still be more.

As a businessman, I really think DE is doing what any business will do which is basically to carry the balls of the highest potential buyers.

As a gamer, I think DE has now joined my list of "normal game developer" but slightly higher since they are really determined to make the game free to play.

It is really just how minorities tend to be treated.

People will give lip service and say how minorities should be treated well and equal but when you really ask them if they are willing to part with the advantage they have over the minority (in this case, development time to make Excal Prime look more like a prime and possibly on par with Umbra looks or making Excal Prime and other primes able to use forma to make umbra polarities to put the umbral mods and be functionally on par with Umbra) like say donating some money or doing volunteer work, they will start to justify why the advantage is fair and why the majority matters or contribute more.

Even now, after they get a better excal prime for free, they still don't want DE to treat excal prime like a prime and visually update him with the other old primes. Why? Because why renovate the houses of the minority? But somehow totally fine to visually update the old primes they own. Why? Because those are old houses owned by the majority as well.

When the next Umbra is out, and if the way it is done is the same, you will see tons of threads begging and whining on why Umbral mods make the primes they bought from trade or prime access just got completely power creeped into irrelevance and even then, I am sure even if DE decides to do something about it, they will tell DE why excal prime should be excluded from the solution.

    They don't want equality.

They want superiority because the best way to forget something you don't and can't own is to make it something you don't want or need to own.

I have invested around 100 euros over the course of the game since the first nerf of those floating compagnons. (They were as powerful as warframe) The dedth cube was the first thing I have ever bought in this game.

Yeah, I was also looking forward to post-quest content...

If we had to farm for Umbra and those 5 mods, I'd be satisfied.

That would've been whole new level of disappointment.

    • 1 Minor Quest in comparison to TSD & TWW, and even the CoH if you mind.

Also mind that I haven't played it yet, but from what I have seen from the Day 1 streams, it felt like what apostasy should have been. (console pessant here, for the moment)

    • The grind for the frame and mods, not forgetting the location grinding like keys and other things that go along with it, like drop chances.
    • even more Endo farming

    No thank you !!

I'm glad that DE did it this way.

I do agree with you OP with most of the things you've said. Even to the Index part. But I am not going to get emotional about that again.
It is what is right now, and the next big thing is Tennocon. All we can do is support and give constructive feedback. They are working on it and are
moving forward. As players and fans this is what we got.

The only letdown IMHO was the quality and fact that it doesn't look that bright in the near future.
But I think the only reason I feel this way,is maybe because DE is becoming this really huge commercial company and not the game studio, they ones were. The focus is changing. And during moments like this it is clearly showing.

I realize now that I've gotten on the hype train. It did not arrived at the designated station and I had to walk.

  3. I saw this game on a game review website. Back then those were hot. So I made an account and booted it on my Pentium 4. My graphics couldn't handle it and I was lagging most of the time. But for me it didn't matter I was hooked on the game. A few months passed, the game got updated and better support came with it.
It was running decently on my pc, and I finally could understand what was going on. And then I saw my stats. I died more than I ever could hit anything.
My KD rating was (My kill / _Deaths_*100*My_kill).

I got mad, rage quit the game and made a new account. This one.

And started all over again. This time I was better and hooked. PC crashed, didn't play for like a year.

Got a new PC and installed this right away. Graphics could have been better but I liked and played on interception mission with grineer over and over again, as if it was my only game. Also when you died and you didn't have lives left, you couldn't play the game anymore for that day. This was solution.

Time pases and I played this game through its many version on and off again. Until one day I got a new graphics card and got back to it. Eventually I got fed up, no changes, no updates nothing new was going on. In both the game and my life. So I sold my pc.

A year or so later, after a breakup that got my heart badly, I felt like coming back to the game. And so I did. The game looked lovely on my laptop. That didn't take long since my charging unit on the laptop broke down.

So months ago, 2,5 at max I started again on the PS4. I went quickly through the game, since I knew pretty much how. I got to apostasy at the beginning of Mr5 and now I am waiting for TS to drop there.

I said a couple of pages back that founder's gear should have been cosmetic (having an armor set + syandana representing your founders rank) so that they can show their status while still being able use whatever warframe and weapons they wanted. I even said that I would like for them to get these cosmetics even if they kept excalibur, skana and lato prime exclusivity.

Different times, different ideas about digital content.

Back then the idea was that you money should have an equal value or return. Fashion *state_your_game_here* weren't a big deal, nor in minds worth the money.
There were thousands of MMO's out there that had fashion items and dyes for free. And not in a limited / paywall capacity as now. Also it wasn't normal for a free game to ask money for in game items. There were some that did, but they never promised small things such as decorative items. Only functional / bonuses / Above status for 'members and financial supporters' / exclusivity in terms of areas and other bonuses as mentioned.

A different approach was needed to reach this support.

  5. I don't really have a problem with the founders pack and everything around.I was around when it set on the table and I didn't do a thing, I didn't get it. (Before this game I didn't spend a dime in digital currency nor content)
No big deal there for me. AND IMHO neither should those who weren't around, nor did have the chance to bud in, nor were too late
I think people should see this from both the perspective of what if this game wasn't the success it now is. Where would you be now and where would they be. If this game wasn't the hype that it is now, would you have known of it or even be still playing it?

Back then Warframe was a gigantic financial gamble, loved it from the moment I played and I am glad that those who did and could support the game in its original form.

What I don't agree with is this one thing on the side of DE. They are trying to leverage their earlier made promises by offering something else to all of those who didn't and couldn't. Example? Excalibur Prime undisclosed stats rise because of a similar apple being introduced in to the game. But I what I do wonder is, what they are going to do with the Asian Version since Umbra was their Excalibur P ...

You can't just blatantly lie and expect to get away with it. There has never been a point in time where you could put a Prime helmet or skin on a vanilla frame unless with a very specific bug, which in my knowledge never existed. The "Oh I did it somehow but they must have changed it because I'm special" lie is gotta be one of the least believable.

That's not it and I never intend to lie as you put it. I recalled it to be possible from memory, since I did make changes to my rhino because my rhino P couldn't out as much as the orginal did. Also the helmet. Because of the the one of the RP looks like old school thief which I liked.

But I guessed that it can't be done, thus my bad.
I disgard it to not have a disccussion about it, since I seemed to be clearly wrong about it. |

    again my bad.

Now that #NOTMYMOM is confirmed with  TS Quest, I have a question that I would like to be answered or at least be cleared.

A while back during one of these survival mission, when not getting any reward of value by the lotus timely rewards.
I started to wonder even more about What are the Lotus real intentions with these missions?

For one the rewards don't seem to add up. Sometimes they are resources and sometimes they are random part. Both which are fine on them selves but there is always seems to be a hidden agenda behind them. As something she gives us to shut up and look no further.

In survival missions we go in as the distraction while something else seems to be doing what ever in the background. We never do the other side of these missions, nor see the end result. Or work together in a closer setup with others, other than forced encounters.

    For every mission we

    • pop in,
    • do the task,pop out,
    • get rewarded??
    • repeat

Yet our missions seems to have a unseen just cause. Something which she makes clear.

When approaching others that we decides to help. such as Maroo, she seemed to act way more protective than other times and really closely tagging along with us. As noticed in the COMmunication.

What\s even more strange is that every high level extermination target seems to know her and warns us against her. As Tyl Regor states that she doesn't loves us, at least in not way or manner as he loves / cares for his tubeman. Further more she wants all them all dead, yet they do comeback again and again. Lore-wise speaking - Alad V is the biggest example of this.

Another thing on this regard is working with either the grineer against corpus and infection or the other way around in invasion mission and other times slaughter them both while they are fighting among them selves.

maybe this has also come to your attention, please reply with your thoughts.

How can you say something like this without actually testing it?....no you can not put prime helmet on regular Warframe. You can use alt helmets or base helmet on prime variant.

I did on my Rhino as I told in the previous reply. If it cant be done now thats that.

Can you put Valkyr prime helmet on regular Valkyr?  does any other frame work like this?  I see no reason why it should be possible.

Yess you can. I used to do that with my rhino when I first got the P and it wasn’t there yet where I wanted it to be.

  10. Dear DE,

In my last post to you I have thanked you for this amazing game and what you did to it. Even though I still support this game I do have my piece of not so much liking about it, things which I want to be changed. And you keeping in mind for the next updates.

I think that some people of the community can also agree with me on several points.

    •Interusive changes

You have been working hard on the game and not every implementation of something new was to my liking which is fine. But what I do have to say about it is that when you implement something like that, I want to have the option to maybe choose between a few but definitely have the option to completely toggle it off.

    Examples:

-MKB support changes on consoles in general

    - Enemies free roam in places the POE when I am doing none combat stuff like fishing. Or better yet the option to choose to freeroam without enemies.

    - Lotus keep mentioning irrelevant missions when free roaming. Forcing me in to side missions.

    - The music (now drums) when flying to a planet. (Becomes not only boring but completely out of places real quick, especially when you hear it allot within a short or the moment when you find out there is nothing special to it. Once I thought, it was hinting to special places or something which was sneaking upon me. But Nop, it was just a music as a change to the flying sounds, which wasn’t bad. For me it was a peaceful moment, before the slaughter.)

    • Grinneer voices

I don’t know why it was even nessesary but you changed the voices of the grinneer to sound more human. I thought it was because some were saying new stuff and the sound didn’t connect with the rest.

But they all say the same stuff and make the same statements but now in a more humane fashion, without the aggressive all most out of control feral tone/ manner. The previous voices added more to the lore of massive cloning and the defects that came along with, including degrading. Too bad.

But I do also get it if it is a stament of hinting that they are improving ...

    •Beautiful scenery

During most lore quest we get to visit sceneries where alot of thought has been givin too and also breathtaking. But we never get the chance to revisit them in peace. Sometimes there is the option to re do the quest but that is not the same.

    •Large Empty places

If it wasn’t for the grinneer that kept chasing me on the planes, even more now with the MKB update on the PS4. And how annoying the Lotus is with her alerts missions when fishing, I wouldn’t have noticed how empty the plains actually was.

But man not only is it empty but besides the killing and fishing, there is not much else to do there.

Please change this before the next big Freeroam.

    •Loading POE

-speaking of POE, when coming from Cetus to get there, it takes a aweful lot of time to load, even more when take in consideration that you go behind a door, which shuts you of from where you came from, this can’t go back. And don’t know when that door is going to open since there is no indicator besides the now loading spinner. I once waited an half hour for it to open, while I could more my warframe, the now loading indicator spinning and had access to the some of the menus in there. But it did not open. I had to shutoff my the game, upon exit, it reported to have crashed.

Please change this before the next big Freeroam.

•The length of quest and the quality of them.

I would like to begin by stating that I love the these quest and I am deeply invested in the lore of this game, which keeps me going. And I know you put hard times into them.

    But here we go ...

You have set the bar high when you release the cinematic quest TSD and ever since we tasted, You also noticed that we want MORE and still do !!

And I get that every quest cannot be like that, but when we are waiting so long for them to only come out unfinished.

Not to bring you down or nitpicking ... but the TSacrifice was going to come with a amazing login screen and theme, which would change the game UI wise. As seen until now this was only done partially, in the main menu and syndicates. But the rest are not done yet.

The DE I know doesn’t do half of the work but something seemed to have changed that. (Ever since the China merge) As if you are being rushed or something else. Details are missing in the grand scheme of things. It might look like overseen mistakes but it’s bothering me somehow that it might get worse.

The quest had it all ... but still something is missing. And I have waited long for this ... It is not about meeting my expectations, but rather something is off ...

more in the senses of this seemed to be a more corporal tactic than something done wholehearted / passionately / broad focus, making something for every one, than the original thing was.

But that is my take on this.

Maybe someone has another opinion of it.

    •DE

I do appreciate the effort you put in the game and hard work. You guy deserve it all!! The love, the support of all kinds, the fruits of the hard labour and our understanding.

We can’t wait for your next moves.

    Lots of love,

    The heart of a gamer

I always thought that the Lotus did go with him in to her own accord.

    However,

The Hunhow in the Nathan quest has a similar build as the Lotus we see on wires.

This could imply that he also may have a kind of what Lotus has.

    *spoilers**

I was right. The sacrifice quest seemed to confirm that she did go with him on her own accord. (But it did not clear any of their relationship.)

Hunhow and Lotus do look alike. This possibly means that HunHow also could have a human like body like the Lotus.

  12. There is more but on this account I cannot post on the PS4 section.

The layers of menu gets stuck behind the layer for the cursor. Before the update this only seemed to be happening when the chat bar was still up in the navigation section but now it has gotten in other menus ass well.

To allow MKB support on the PS4, it got rid of how the orginal navigation with PS4 works. This wasn’t a support adaptation but a complete overhaul, just to support a few. (Like when this update first launched, and you could use only the cursor, how can you forget the other buttons that were originally used???)

Sometimes when modding you can’t click on the mod. The whole click and drag doesn’t suit this manner and also looks completely rushed.

I feel this update was forced upon those who don’t have or need MKB. Not only that but there is all so no option to turn it off.

The UI change wasn’t needed in this update, because the sacrifice is going to overhaul it again. Why waste time and resources like that. *also note **The boxes around the text are ugly if every line got different widths. It is better to use one width for all the text boxes.**

  13. I can see where you are going with your replay and I am glad that you replied. I did not take account to what Ballas after her dead, as I only focused of these quest, but gladly you did.

I always thought that the Lotus did go with him in to her own accord.

    However,

The Hunhow in the Nathan quest has a similar build as the Lotus we see on wires.

This could imply that he also may have a kind of what Lotus has.

  14. Mostly when I go on the forums, I am here to rant or complain or something.

But this is the first time that I actually have something to say thank you about. Not that I am not grateful for the game but I have something to say about things that are not easily mentioned.

Recently I had to start all over again. There is no support for cross platform- login. I did my research about and found out that this did not had anything to do with the endpart of DE but purely to Sony and Microsoft, which is a bummer.

Anyway I have started all over again. And somethings were really neat to see ingame. A lot has changed from when I first began and not just the core game concept but also things that are mostly not even accounted for.

    1. The Grinneer Ai

The grinneer are usually seen as a not so smart faction, that has strength in number and arsenal. But I have noticed some really  sweet things. The grinneer are really working together to take you down. In the beginning the Ai would just strike you down  with numbers, filling up rooms with grinneer so that you didn’t have a chance. • But now they are technically aligned in groups. •Sending down troops. •Using the environment to their advantage. •Ducking behind places where they are actually covered. •Getting behind those who actually have shields. •Working with those that can provide them advantages, such as slowing down and breaking shields. •running back to a group, so that they can align and setup while I am coming for them. •Using the alarm when they are not being attacked, and sending others to raise the alarm when they charge me.

    2. Lore wise the game makes a lot more sense.

The environment has been thought out. It is not just a place where you come, kill some foe and get out. The tiles actually makes sense. As someone who has played the game I recognise, pieces that you later need to interact with, and I see them back within the game at that moment.

In my head there is a huge map. That map is cut into pieces and served to us like how The mystery dungeon games work. Some parts are inaccesible at moments, and sometimes just open. Ie: earth has like two places of exiting the game, the roads to those are always the same. One is a path that is near a cliff, with sometimes kubrow dens at the side, towards the platform of exit. The other leads in to stairs that goes upward in to a field of silos/ tanks, with the exit platform near the end.

    3. The road to the quest and relays

The quest also makes way more sense progressive wise, sinse the path towards them is always unlocked and given by the relays in the star chart. I used to hate this design choice, but now as a new player it makes way more sense. It also really helps to keep track of what had to be done. Another thing is, that it kills the gameplay with someone new, that will play with a veteran. There is noway to taxi or even ‘help’ in some kind of form. Which is too bad, forcing you to take the long haul. Which isn’t always necessary when it comes to mods.

    4. Fissures

I hate to even mention this. But fissures really help. Not that I have done much of them, now. But I can see now how they help in a sense of they make it easy for the devs to add new parts to the system without much hassle for a rotation. That is what I get, and I give it to DE. There rest is not for here.

    5. Cinematic Quest

I cannot be more happy about this. But these quest 😮 whoah. I look so much forward to them and they made the game even more interuiging. I want more!! And more quest in general, but please leave the  st#p#d games out. (Looking at the Glast Gambit) Make that part of a system like Lunaro and Conclave. (Both which I don’t touch) might be fun for others. For me they don’t add to the adventure and deep diving into the games lore and mystery.

I know it takes time to make these quest, but look how far we came, you as developers and me (most of the community) as a gamers who still plays your game from pretty much the very beginning. Almost 6 years. We are still here.

So DE thank you, for making and still developing this awesome game. I know you work hard on the fore and background of this. Keep doing that and keep us with you, by your side. Don’t lie to us or leave us hanging in the dark. We understand, we can help. Eventhough it won’t always be pretty.

    Thank you for this!!

Nerfs are necessary, I just wish they'd be braver in doing drastic changes to things.

Currently any time new content comes out it gets cheesed and cleared on the first day, then every day after that. There's no "oh crap this is hard, i need to prepare for this" anymore. If anything DE need to nerf everything across the board so the levels we fight things at above level 30 are actually hard again. In damage 1.0 when tower 3 came out with level 60 enemies, they were actually super difficult and you needed to be prepared to fight them. Now you can just breeze through a neo level fissure with nothing but a melee weapon and whatever frame you like.

The game has literally turned from a skillful shooter into a mobile clicker game where your entire purpose is to get loot and build new things to make your loot gathering faster.

DE, Please nerf everything and make it actually hard again xD

    It had been a while.

i remember those times, where I was just a noob. Getting kicked by level 30 and measured all my equipment against them. Fun times ... The void was so awesome, with cordinated setups and mission.

It felt like everybody had to do their roles well. If it didn’t you could feel that within the mission progress.

Sometimes it feels like that. But then they introduce enemies that still give me nightmare because of times, like bursas when the alarm has been going on for too long. And now I happened to find those yellow thingies that follows you ...

the game has changed a lot and I have discovered that they did some pretty neat stuff within.

Despair and i'm fine (trying to get my Hands for more than 3 yrs now)

I got like three on the pc, maybe we can trade or something in a few days.

    War and broken BP

I got a Dragon sentinel prime bp but nothings else since forever. Also a few other prime bps of the old warframe but the rest isn’t here anymore.

Sentients when you don’t have a weapons that does over 500 damage per hit. One becomes a pain, more and you are in hell.

MR 13 but not the weapons, wealth and resource that you may expect.

New warframe releases ... I mean how many children were there for these warframes to excist, especially when they get primes.

The method of which warframe are getting primed.

The lore of warframe and where all fits in to place.

DE renewing the game but forgetting they did some changes because of previous lore.

    the warframe community

    no cross-game login

    updates and new quest

warframe quest that have ambiguous lore about a warframe but I can’t pull the same thing of in the game.

fissures, I am still salty about that change.

    The ditching of the void

ruining of endless games but wanting players to keep playing after all is done

daily log in reward, that invites you to spend cash when you haven’t login over 7 days. I mean when do I get something good out it, it I keep getting invites to buy plat.

Mods that are needed for certain weps

    rivens disposals

    riven missions

alerts, after a certain time spend in the game they become useless.

seems like I am very salty ...

but I love this game tho

and I can’t wait to explore more of the warframe world and lore when it is given.

  17. So I have recently started new game on the PS4 because warframe doesn’t support cross-platform login and also because I don’t own a pc anymore and my laptop doesn’t charge anymore.

While I haven’t played warframe in a long time due, not much cinematic quest has been released, and such but also due life but what ever.

Some some thing odd stuck in my head while playing the Apostasy Prologue.

Ballas seemed to be chasing the Lotus like a man left by his wife who’s so in love with.

    Lotus was Marguilis along.

Now hear me out. It seemed like those types in movies, but I got somewhat proof ...

In Natah, the Lotus disappears on us, upon the discovery of the sentient oculyst. ‘She needed to cover her tracks’, she lets us know when she got back. This may be due the relation she has with the sentients as being on of them. (What if we had more in connection to her than just this?). But later on the strangest thing happen when Hunhow is discussing about the ‘mission’.

The Lotus had a sequence of task given by him, to ensure that the sentient would have won the war. One them was to infiltrate the Ororkin empire and destroy them from within. I believe that is when Lotus became   Marguilis. Her mission was to use the Tenno with a ‘song’ to destroy the Orokin. And then when the song finished, it would have destroyed the Tenno and in turn release Hunhow from his prisson, as he would return in another form.

A song of drums was heard when the Tenno slaughtered the Orokin Empire.

But she never did finish the song and Hunhow was never revived. Thus this is what he finds out upon his revival by Tyl Regor. He asked her about everything that happened. The task he had given her, the song, the children and his revival. She vaguely give answers to parts of the events. Confirms the mission and the infiltration. Never replies about the song and the children or his revival.

In the second dream, we learn where she hid the children. The thing that Hunhow said in the beginning of the new strange, about the womb in the sky. But because of something, he himself can’t get there. Could it be because the void piosson to the sentient (but we see sentients entering and exiting the void and on the moon, before the reveal [The Second Dream]), he missing a body, or something else?

Eventually he tricks the Lotus, and having the Warframe touched a remnant of his body, making a tether to where we are hidden. In the moon, in a piece of the void. But the riddle he gave, at the beginning of the quest, already mentioned this ... Could it be that he knew that they were hidden on the moon, but not where the moon was?

Anyway the Lotus seemed strange, like she wasn’t hiding us, but mearly masking her own presence. A secret upon a secret. (This is hinted in the Apostasy Prologue)

After this events we get to The Silver Groove.

Here we learn more of Marguilis and Ballas. She seemed to be awfully emotional about this event, even more so than she was during the Second Dream and Natah. As if she was there, a remnant memory. We learn that Marguilis was like a mother to the Tenno, even more than she was a scientists. She got attached to them, which was apparently strange thing for an Orokin to outsiders, or things they considered that weren’t to their perfection.

Ballas had to lay the judgement on her, but it seemed like he didn’t want her to go ...

Not much is going on in the War Within, regarding to this other than a dark strange voice we suddenly hear, after revisiting old Orokin place and getting more efficient in the means of transference. But we later do learn who that voice is that calls us ... “Kiddo”.

This is where Ballas comes in. When we got more efficient in the methods of transference, we released a stronger connection. Enough for those outside to tether and make that connection. Because of this connection, we are automatically connected to Lotus, him getting to her was easy. But he never called out to her, until he was absolutely sure about it.

When he called out to her, we followed that connection, which brought him to her, physically.

    This concludes my theory.

I have yet need to play the 2nd Dream and TWW on my PS4. But so far this is where my memory got me. I can’t wait to find out what the next cinematic quest will reveal.

    Say what?

What do you mean "another way to re-approach this?"

Something us users can do to be able to bypass this, or not being damaged so much by it ...that's what I meant by that

I'm a relatively new player to Warframe, my background is mostly on PVP games, where balance, nerfs and buffs are extremely important. The problem with nerfs in Warframe specifically is that it takes a huge amount of time, energy and resources to make top tier builds on certain warframes and weapons. Sometimes just acquiring the weapon itself is already a big grind, then you need to add forma to it, 4 is not uncommon, some weapons require as many as 7 formas for its final build. On top of that you need specific mods, some of which may be rare and expensive if you don't already own everything. Sometimes you even want to throw in a riven mod, which depending on the weapon may cost several thousand platinum. So you spent all that time and energy on a weapon, maybe you even spent RL money on the riven, and then the weapon gets nerfed into uselessness. I can understand why people get upset.

By the time I started playing WF, tonkor and synoid simulor had already been nerfed, so I can't comment on whether those nerfs were necessary or not. But I think the issue is like @Xzorn put it: the regular content of Warframe, from Star Chart up to Sortie 3, is just too easy for the current warframes and weapons available in the game, for those people who min max the best builds. It's as simple as that. And apparently they removed the need for endless endurance runs from the game to make it more accessible to casual players. But once you go into endless survivals and you start fighting enemies at level 300 on the 2 hour mark you notice that those OP builds aren't really that OP in that context, they are a necessity if you even want to kill anything.

I think DE should save nerfs for only the absolute extreme case of weapons that are clearly broken and ruining the fun of other players in public games or going against their core design philosophy (although even then it could be argued that resonating quake banshee or even a well built world on fire ember could do just that and kill everything in the map before the other players can even raise their gun); and then to address the power creep inherent in these grinder games, provide some sort of optional content to the more hardcore min-max players where these OP builds are actually needed. Maybe some type of endless "horde mode" arena that already starts at lvl 100 and goes up from there, or whatever really. Meaningful rewards, but nothing that is deemed "mandatory" so that attendence in these is entirely optional.

You have seen to make a great observations. And I go along with how you think about nerfs, I also think that DE should nerf less and considerate the amount of time that is going in to getting the weapon to a level where you can actually use it properly. But saying that is pointing out that there system doesn't work properly while it's their method of approach that is doing the damage, IMHO.

    They have conflicting standards.

One is to appease players in the "normal game" of lvl 1-120 . The other is to present players with Power creep as incentive to use new items. These two together will forever prevent the game from being balanced. Much as someone might want a nerf across the board to make the game play better it's a temporary solution long as DE keeps these two standards. Weapon Tiers also don't work because of this.

Nerfs are required but they often don't make sense in Warframe because they're based on this small level range where quite frankly everything is trivial anyways so it's kinda redundant. Determining "What is Powerful" in Warframe is a topic all on it's own because the game can be played in many ways. For instance as an endurance runner didn't think Simulor was powerful. Trying to shoot a lvl 300 Napalm with that gun is a pathetic sight. Meanwhile Octavia is easily one of the most powerful things in the game.

DE does not have a light touch when it comes to nerfs. Often eliminating the item/power in question completely so it's understandable that players resist nerfs in case of Warframe since Nerf has become synonymous with delete.

This brings another equation to that fact that I haven't considered. Of course different players have different needs, but it seems that DE generalize us all the same, when it comes to the majority.

Nerfs (just like buffs) are a critically important power tool. Depending on the context of the situation, nerfs can be much more effective than buffs.

Players need to learn to suck it up and stop having such melodramatic allergic reactions to the mere concept of a nerf.

Can nerfs go too far? For sure. Does DE frequently miss the root cause of the problem and implement nerfs that completely fail to make a difference? Absolutely (A good example being Slash damage calculating procs off of only Slash; this doesn't actually nerf slash's source of power)!

But nerfs that go too far are when you apply a buff to take it back the other direction (e.g., what Gara needs), just not quite as far.

We need to grow up and accept that sometimes things need to get nerfed.

DE shouldn't have to go through ridiculous balance contortions to avoid triggering players who can't stand the mere thought of doing slightly less damage than they did yesterday. DE trying to do just that is what gets us suck with lackluster balance to begin with.

    NERFS AREN'T EVIL.

Badly implemented or designed nerfs suck, yes, but they aren't permanent. And DE could make changes a lot more flexibly if players would stop frothing at the mouth every time a nerf shows up in the patch notes.

you make some good points and I would say that we have to accept the fact that it may happen. But isn't there another-way for us to re approach this as players? users of the system?

Half the time someone complains about a Nerf, they just don't know how to mod or to experiment with mod setups. The other half the time they're just angry because they can't clear 100 square meters in half a second.

They release an awesome weapon, make money, nerf it later, people get angry, rinse repeat. Don't make the same mistake twice.

You are right, maybe they don't know. What would you suggest and is there more than one way?

I know I've said this around here before but it never hurts to say it again.

Balance doesn't work in games like this. The genre is built around power creep. Every successful game in the genre has been unbalanced. When they focus on balance over power creep, they lose their players to boredom. Ask Borderlands The Pre Sequel.

Balance has no place in this genre.

so basically you are saying that they are keeping us from the top and nerf what ever we may find for use to even be able to do so. while doing that make us yearning for them to come up with a way to make us able to even try again. Only for them to do the same thing over again.

Well, the way combat is designed, is that there is always a way to cheese it, and so there is always "best" gear. It gets nerfed if it's too easy to cheese with it or it is used way too much in proportion to other gear.

Then the Players seek the next easy way to kill as many enemies as quickly as possible and the cycle continues.

    Edit: extra explanation

that sounds depressing in a way ...haha

Warframe isn't built around balance. Armor scaling and enemy cheese should be the first indicator of this. (whether player or enemy scaling came first is a different argument).

But beyond that, DE has always lived up to their name, Digital EXTREMES. And their "balance patches" tend to be more of the same. Yes, DE has nerfed powerful things. They've also buffed things to great heights (shotguns and snipers, namely). I tend to be a cynic when it comes to DE's actions and promises. But that doesn't change that there are extremely powerful options in Warframe, options that haven't gotten nerfed yet. I"ve got a zaw with a riven that can clear a room in seconds. Lenz murders crowds even before hunter munitions comes into play. I dislike the nerf mentality, particularly in regards to the upcoming IPS changes. But at this time, asking DE not to nerf first and ask questions later is like asking birds to not fly,

I see what you mean in that regard and I can get totally behind it. But with options of not getting nerfed yet is another problem on it self, as if you are waiting for something inevitable to happen at any moment.

So what questions should be asked ?

  23. For the last few years, warframe had some massive nerfs. Sometimes 4 in the same year focused on one warframe or thing. The way warframe is heading, it looks like this will be the case for more years to come ...

But why nerf in the first place? Shouldn't there be another solution since DE invented and placed it themselves in the first place?

This rework should be focused on having tier weapons that works or a way for all weapons to be as effective in terms of killing an enemy on their own accord without the need of having mandatory mods / builds.

How i see this it, is that they are breaking the thing they build in the first place.

Let's not forget that Warframe combat is build on the cohesive entanglement of the following: Warframe that depends on partner warframe (coop), damage and elements, enemy types, weapons (mostly fodder), mods (with most of them aren't even used) and the use of support ranging from: items to pets.

Which means that every time DE introduce something in game that effects the cohesive entanglement, they are literally breaking the balance to begin with. And all of this without taking account the "over-usage of known formulas" that players happen to hang-on to, because that is the only thing that happen to work as a direct approach.

    You want proof?

    Spoiler

Look for the nerfs in the build notes after a weapon / frame / mod was introduced and the following hotfixes and the major update after its introduction.

Just search for know builds on the internet, and especially these players known as partners and compare their known formulas with each-other. Almost no difference ...

Just look at the effective way / direct approach certain things. (all were nerfed or changed in someway) main example: Mulitple akkad nerfs

I am not targeting anyone or pointing fingers.

Don't get me wrong. I love warframe and it's the only tile which I have played for so long. And I hope in the future to continue to do so.

I'm just a concerned player/longtime fan stating it all started with the core: warframe's cohesive entanglement.

Pls look into this DE !!
