Venetian Carnival Contest [Winners Announced]!

I'm rather still new to Warframe overall, but this contest inspired me and gave me interest. So, here goes my first post on these forums and also my submission into this contest.

First, I'd like to apologize for the lack of refinement on my piece. But here goes.

The mask is suppose to honor Cetus and what it stands for. While I was thinking, I came up with the following attributes I'd assign to the people of Cetus: Tradition, Honor, Family/bonds of friendship, Promises, Simplicity. After thinking of these aspects that represented the people of Cetus, I had only one solid conclusion, Honor the figure that saved them in their past, the Glass Warrior Gara. So, that is the inspiration of my mask's form and concept.

Now, I also wanted to consider who would be "making" these masks, Nakak, who's masks seem to be more like hand made designs than fabricated pieces. On that note, I couldn't fully draw out what I envisioned of my design, which would make it look hand crafted. (If I am selected, I just hope my concept will be held by the 3D rendering artists.) The missing element I couldn't accurately place into my image was to have the glass mask appear more like cracked pieces, maybe even like a mosaic artwork, though smooth glass also could be appropriate.

I also wished to take inspiration from Gara, without specifically copy/pasting her head. Thus, I've adjusted the position of her glass horns to provide a difference. I also took some inspiration from the Lotus, with a more open mask concept.

So, I present my "Warrior of Glass" mask.

Though not specifically represented here, I also would imagine that, with the hood down option, that the transparent face mask section would vanish, leaving the horns behind. I know there are players who would love to have horn decoration options, and this could be an interesting "fashion frame" option for those players. Color channels would probably be basic, the face mask being one channel, the horns another and maybe the third channel being the glint reflection of the glass. Another channel would probably be the grout that would hold the broken/mosaic glass pieces together, if that concept could be realized.

I wish everyone submitting to this contest luck. A lot of good entries here from what I saw.

Does it have to be a illustration or can you 3D Model a mask, render and submit that

As far as I understood the rules, you can use any (visual) medium for your submission, as long as it's orginal in the end. AKA: Don't submit someone else's work directly, it needs to be of your own creation.

Mask name: Varuunum Corus Mask
Item Description: ''A mask made by artisans under Corpus doctorine, to be used in their credit gala's. Its origin though, reeks of Orokin symbolism, and the use of the mask, was more punishment and alienation of the wearer.''
Artist notes: I mostly fiddled around with idea of carnival and the less use of the Void Keys nowdays, resulting the goofy Key hat. Originally it was meant to be abit more related to all known ''races'' we face of in-game, but, in the end i landed on Corpus and their sole love for Orokin.

The mask also had abit of more edgier ideas included in it like: Orokin captives, using these masks to punish the non-followers to eternal silence and solitude and so on. Eventually, a simple Carnival masked, blocked by the hand holding the mask together became the prime final idea, with the hand, moving away to form a scarf/lapelle for the wearer, and the Corpus mechanical plating, forming a old timey head scarf around the head.

Edit: Added a link to the image, for higher quality (I hope)

The Living Mask

Japanese mask inspired me a bit, for the horns especially, I adapted it in a stylized way. I loved to use red colors, it makes the mask vibrant and dynamic at the same time with all these lines. I tried to represent "teeth" on both sides. The big eye on the top can close and open, and the tongue gives an "horrific" appearance. I added gold rings to give it a personnality.

My submission is an inspiration from the 'Alignment' system that causes the sun-and-moon sigil to change based on the Operator's choices. It reminds me of the lunar phases of the month, and I was inspired to do this from all the moon eclipses, blood moons and supermoons that I have seen. I created this mask to show the stark contrast of the Neutral alignment, but also 'windows' of the sun sigil, the moon sigil (extremely simplified for the Ostron style) which is like a yin-yang sort of symbolism. The constellations/stars painted as dots are meant to symbolise the stars in the system, the white stars representing "normal" space, and the black stars like the inverted mirror image of the "Void". The parts of the illustration that are coloured in with black 'texta', yellow and white pencil are intended as a default for the actual mask. The face underneath (in grey-lead pencil) is just a placeholder to what it would look like when worn.

Enjoy!

My design for this contest😊.

The colors are what you will usually see in Venetian mask and part of design are ment to resemble a butterfly wing, it represent transformation, endurance, change (like what we have to go through the main quests). The material of the mask is from the same material that Nakak use in her mask.

Omo Sigma Sho (made from black ink pen and sharpie colors) Inspired by the beautiful Lotus and 3 enemy factions. Can you find the Corpus, Infested, and Grineer? url

This mask symbolizes that the Tenno & Warframes are One. While Lotus may not always be by our side, our mind is wise and ears open to the teachings she has provided. Our transference flows as delicate as a feather floating in the wind. Our mysterious past rages with havoc and anarchy on the Orokin system. We will not be eliminated! We will fight on together...

Here's my mask!

I tried to incorporate multiple aspects of ostron culture in my mask such as:

condroc feathers

 ostron wraps

 colors of the Unum's tower

an iron rose

and glass shards for Gara!

Everyone did such a good job on their masks, and I'm exited to see who wins!

Here is my take on the Contest.

tumblr_pnin78t1W61s8datpo1_1280.jpg

I based my design on the Sentient - Battalyst, because I like their colour scheme and their bony structure. I have placed the "head" of the Battalyst on Tenno's nose and have their legs extended out on both sides, the have the shoulder piece for the eye mask part, and have 2 antennas sticking out on both ends for aesthetic. And I like to keep it within Nakak's style, so I painted it paper texture and have all the lines and colour brush painted on it. Hope ya'll like it. 🙂

I have decided that it's time to finally post this. I finished this a few days ago, but I didn't have the will to actually share it.
So, anyway, here is my mask. I didn't know what a kubrow's skull actually looks like, so I just took a real dog's skull and a kubrow's head and mashed them together to get... well, whatever this is.

I hope it is acceptable.

So, here is my contribution! Seeing as this would have to be hand-made by our dear little Nakak, I designed a mask that would be able to be easily made on Cetus. The mask itself is a representation of Zephyr, made from the skull, claws, and feathers of a Condroc, topped with the mache that is used on the other masks, harnessed by leather, and with a facemask of some sort of black cloth. I apologize for the lack of contrast between the hair of my dear operator and the feathers. (The entire mask is lined with them!)

(Side note, I drew this and wrote this before I looked at the other submissions. Apparently, Condrocs are popular. Hah!)

Mask " Amaterasu "
I do not have much experience in this field, but I strongly wanted to participate. In general, during this time, 3 options for masks have gathered, and here is one of them. According to the canon there should be white and red or brightly red colors, a white mask base and red / red patterns. the mask has condor feathers and the details that were added I tried to show. I hope my version, as an idea for a mask, like it)
