For people that buy Prime Accesses...

Slots, decorations and cosmetics, lots and lots of forma bundles, veiled rivens and gifts. It goes pretty quickly, honestly.

I only buy accessories so no plat for me. That said i have a stockpile of so much unused stuff whenever i need plat (mostly it's weapon/riven slots, riven mods or new cosmetic bundles) i just hop a few mins in trade chat and get what i need. 

I also live with a permanent resource booster (200 plat per month).

I always keep a credit, affinity, and resource booster up, buy slots, buy cosmetics, buy mods/primes I can't be asked to farm to days on end, buy pain in the ass to get warframes (Nidus and Harrow for me), buy more cosmetics.

I spend money on Prime Access, because I enjoy the game, but at the same time don't want to feel like I am wasting time when there are ways to cut down on the grind.

Also if you do the all the above along with buying rivens you will see that 4k platinum does not last long at all, especially if you do not have a lot of the things in the game already.

Really it is up to you on what you think is more valuable, your time or your money.

Whenever a friend of mine picks the game up I'll normally give them a few hundred plat, I don't buy every prime access but I've got a few. I think Mirage was the last full one I bought.

Slots, rivens, forma, cosmetics, vaulted frames/weapons, boosters, mods, arcanes... there are lots of things you can buy.
