I'd say a tie. Now if you will excuse me Ill get ready for the flame war.

Edit: This is to help you figure out what you think IN YOUR OWN OPINION has better dps for what ever your doing ect ect

Synapse

Good things!

1. Highest base critical chance of all weapons.

2. instantly reaches its maxed range

3. A high 100 magazine clip

4. A high base damage.

5. Fast reload time

6. Can do red crits when used in conjunction  with Volt's shield skill

Compared to flux!

1. Less base damage then flux

2. Damage is affected by armor (I think!)

3. No stun!

4. Does not do 3x damage to infested! (No serrated blade)

Flux Rifle

Good things!

1. Attacks are not affected by armor.
2. Deal triple damage to light infested.
3. High base damage.
4. Large 100 magazine clip
5. Base stagger chance 100%
6. High critical damage

Compared to Synapse!

1. Less crit chance!

2. Fast reload time more DPS!

3. If you have Volt you will do major red crit damage!

4. Range!

Moved to the proper section.

Also, I'll just leave these here:

As such, Synapse > Soma > Flux"

Does that include the AP factor as well? I was somewhat confused over the tables.

I dunno,

Flux with just crit mods is 345 dps

Synapse with just crit mods is 700 dps

Piercing Hit is only 60%

So Flux is 345+207 = 552 armor ignoring dps

and Synapse is 420 armor ignoring dps

I would argue at highest levels the Flux is still best for Grineer / Ancient Headshots

In comparison, Soma is ~1433 base dps, so ~860 armor ignoring DPS (with shred factored in btw)

That makes me even more unhappy to hear.

Flux can not beat synapse on grineer that have a weakness to AP damage.

https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/112011-i-give-up-some-does-more-ap-dps-than-even-flux/     Patzer's chart

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AlWVt6vp3-YWdHZJRTBvRTBrNGNrb3dNbEZsc0tZVHc#gid=3  Volt_Cruelerz's chart

Patzer's charts show this clearly, Volt's charts as well: synapse will always be able to out damage flux on something with a 1.5x modifier to AP damage. Synapse can get 2-2.2k dps in ap damage, flux can only get 780-792dps. Even adding flux's base damage to it's ap damage it can not match the synapse on grineer because of their weakness.

A flux rifle could NEVER beat a synapse if the knee of an ancient was targeted by the synapse even if the Flux targeted the head. Targeting the head flux should win, but it is not that hard to hit an ancient knee with the laser pointer synapse.

Patzer's uses 125% base crit chance and incorrectly calculates dps, as well as base dps values all over the place (1007 for flux, 50.3 for soma, what?)

Volt_Cruelerz's chart doesnt show the calculations used to come to those conclusions. From his raw data sheets;

Flux: ~795 AP DPS (1192 after modifier), ~1325 Serrated Blade damage

Synapse: ~1736.8 AP DPS (2605 after modifier) (value adjusted for again incorrect crit calc)

Seems fairly equal to me, although I'd agree the Synapse would be slightly better due to taking down shields faster and instantaneous reach time.

Edit: Synapse reloads 25% faster than Flux.

Patzer, Volt_Cruelerz, and Gottfaust all use the same method.

Read their post about it in these topic:

Some weapons scale significantly better with mods than others.

Now some interesting facts:

  • The Synapse can "red crit" with a maxed Point Strike.  The number simply doesn't show as red.  Test it yourself: go fight an infested ancient with just Point Strike equipped and shoot at his lower torso from behind so as to avoid head shots.  You'll see a whole bunch of 3s and 4s with some odd 30s and 40s mixed in. Those are the 25% "red crits". Make sure you do this as the host (solo guarantees this) as all numbers are screwy when you're a client.
  • Corrosive Projection dropping 30% of an enemy's armor doesn't increase the damage by 30%.  It drops the armor's numerical value by 30% which can often result in a massive damage increase against armored opponents at higher levels. This basically means it's a very good idea to bring at-least one when doing high level play until Armor/Damage 2.0 goes live.

Ah so if the Synapse can indeed red crit for massive damage spikes it's certainly the best dps weapon out there. Possibly an incoming fix/nerf to that tho, just seems overpowered to me.

It only overpowered on corpus(intended?) I have been using mine for the past few days and stuck 5 forma on it. It was harder to make synapse good than it was for soma, it takes 3-4 forma and a catalyst to start seeing it shine. They are changing how both critical and elemental damage works in armor 2.0 and I have no clue how it will be after that rework.

Synapse is not in the same league as shotgun for AP damage DPS. According to Cruelerz: even a standard Strun can get higher AP DPS than a synapse.
