A Marketboard/Auctionhouse would indirectly emulate Orphix Venom's currency reward system for all tradable content rewards

You know what sucks? Playing for several hours and feeling like you've made 0 progress towards whatever you were working towards, and just paying for it with platinum instead.

That said, paying for an Orphix Venom reward with the pity currency is a similar scenario, and it was understandably well-received because it serves to mitigate some of the worst aspects of RNG. I've always felt that platinum served a similar purpose, but the way trading is set up currently makes it an annoyance to offload lots of low value items, which is the majority of your rewards because that's how rarity works.

A market board or auction house system would allow the game to immediately communicate the platinum value of those items just like it does for their credit-sale value, and allow a player to immediately offload them without sitting around waiting for trades. It might not be an immediate reward, but it enables immediate feedback that you've gotten something of value and that can be considered progress towards your end goal.

This horse has been beaten over the years. While it would be better for players looking to buy something (prices get cheaper/normalized at a lower amount), it would risk killing the value of Platinum altogether. I cannot speak for consoles, but on PC, the economy for Platinum is extremely fragile. I personally fear that an auction house would destroy the economy of Platinum and only reward pre-existing whales while making it way harder to gather enough Platinum to buy consumables (Forma, Boosters, Catalysts, Reactors, Exilus Adapters, etc) and cosmetics in a reasonable fashion.

The best example of this is how Prime sets are valued on warframe.market. Within a week or 2 of a Prime Access launch, the Warframe and the accompanying weapons can be purchased under 300 Platinum. Nezha Prime on warframe.market costs less than 2 Forma bundles from the market. Octavia Prime isn't short behind. Arcanes follow this same trend over time, heavily influenced by the nature of farming in the game as well as this website. Aside from special cases like Loki Prime or Riven Mods (limited availability items), the price of things are steadily decreasing, and a market board/auction house could potentially crumble the fragile ship Platinum sits on.

Market manipulation is also something to consider (scalping boards in groups to raise prices for a gain). It wouldn't be nearly as bad as the way GPU's are right now, but it isn't very hard to raise the price of a Vaulted Prime set ~30 Platinum per set.

Those "low value items" would become even lower in value, i.e. free. The reason they have any value at all is because you have to actually participate in the trading system. An auction house would significantly increase supply which would make prices completely crash.

Something for Rivens might be workable, as long as there were mechanisms in place to prevent gaming the system.
