Topic about this problem has been going on for a while. Sliding on it while spamming "x" was said to possibly work. Who's the troll that said that? doing that only makes you respawn back on the stairs BUT now you are stuck, just running in place, tried that 3 times, same result. Don't complain when you are a solo player, or you just can't do something you really want. DE works hard enough, and this is just a minor issue compared to the DC or crashing. It has been awhile since I did any hijack missions (they reward so little XP I find them not worth the time and effort, a shame really since they are actually quite fun) but don't you have to press a button or hack a panel to start the escort? But as I said in a reply, I managed to do it, and it works since all the medallions spawn BEFORE you actually start the escort, in the rooms before that. Using Trinity? Once It was a Exterminate and another time a Mob Def, and now Hijack, every time I slid in trying to grab it, I'd just get teleported back and stuck until something killed me and I used a revive.
