NezuHimeSama
Does it never proc, or does it sometimes not proc? It may be that it's rounding up from 99.96 total chance of landing a proc per full connect of every pellet in a shot.
Psiloc1n
The status chance of each pellet is the total status divided by the number of pellets. So 100% status on a 10 pellet shotgun will only have 10% status per pellet.
MechaKnight
It's a probability. The number you are reading in your weapon stats is a probability comprised of multiple dice rolls, one for each pellet. Therefore, there are times you will not receive a status from any of those pellets, and a time where you may inflict status with more than one pellet. The distributed probability explains why it is possible to have a supposed probability of 100% status or greater while being able to not deal any status at all. That said, it's not worthwhile to focus on status for weapons that can not reliably go over 100% status probably. While additional probability is possible and desirable, it will not show up in-game. It is also recommended to reserve status optimizing for weapons with purely elemental damage, since any one status you want to inflict is spread across all damage types found on the weapon, and multishot pellets do not take added elements into account. For continuous beam weapons, there seems to be a lot less number dodging involved in their in-game behavior.
taiiat
unless a Shotgun has Status of minimum 35% base (if you have 4 Status Elementals, or 40% base (if you have 3 Status Elementals), Shotguns will not get Status reliably. most of the Status you see on Hek is from your double Multishot. it increases the probability of a Status Effect, but doesn't actually increase the Chance of a Status Effect. technically. currently, the only Shotguns that have Status that is reliable at all, is Boar Prime, Strun Wraith. Sobek would be if the +20 Status Mod added as base Status, allowing other Mods to calculate off of it. but since AFAIK they don't, Sobek isn't countable here. every other Shotgun has sketchy Status at best. oh, and you'd better hope not a single Pellet misses your Enemy if you're not using BoarP or StrunW, because then your Status basically dies. basically, the 100% probability you see isn't really true. the number of Pellets is creating it, rather than actually increasing Status Chance. this means that if 100% of the pellets hit, there is a probability that atleast one Pellet will get a Status Effect. however, because the Chance per pellet is still very low because of all of that Multishot, you can still often not get Status. welcome to Shotgun Status, a dreary land full of stats that are just short of outright lying to you, and unreliability and lack of role enough to fill a swimming pool.
