Jailers would use these as a way of threatening prisoners to not try to break through the door when they are unlocking it. If they got close to it and didn't stop...bam. A 9 barreled shotgun. If I had to take a guess, given this gun's incredible size and the mounting point on the bottom of the barrels, this thing would have been used for commerical fowling?
