jhanX
I have a few questions: How good is the orthos prime? Is it end game viable? What kind of build is best? Is shimmering blight the best stance for polearms? Is it wrong to eat my own children? How many forma is "Enough"? I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Yes if you slap in Blood Rush and Body Count mods. Not really, you will struggle a lot with it the moment xxx level jumps in. 7 minutes ago, jhanX said: Is shimmering blight the best stance for polearms? This is pure preference, its up to you. 7 minutes ago, jhanX said: Is it wrong to eat my own children? Unless you are a cat then nope. 7 minutes ago, jhanX said: How many forma is "Enough"? Enough does not exist in WarFrame dictionary, most of the time. But for this weapon, i say 2, go with V. Edited May 9, 2016 by Prinny13
1 GekkoBlitzscream
It's actually good. Yes. Depends on your prefference Again, it depends on your prefference, there are no "best one" neither "worst one". Not if you're a hamster 0-2 forma is more then needed.

0 DaftMeat
It's still pretty good. But today's top-tier is tomorrow's "meh" #powercreep
0 motorfirebox
It's very nice, but it's a bit overshadowed by Tipedo.

While it's single target damage might no longer be top-tier. The huge range still easily makes up for that when fighting groups, which you basically always do in warframe. Hitting 2 enemies instead of 1 already doubles your damage output. And an Orthos Prime with Primed Reach can hit a lot of enemies at once. It's a funny fact that you could double the range of the melee weapon with the second highest reach in the game and it would still be less than the Orthos Prime. 0 Plushy
In my experience it stops install killing around level 35. I would give orthos prime a mid-tier ranking, maybe mid-high

PRIMED REACH The reach of the weapon is indeed impressive, one of the reasons I believe it's still pretty good. But these days, Crit weapons are starting to be more and more favored. Orthos Prime still has a good niche, but personally I'd rather put Primed Reach on an Atterax (base 25% Crit, 20% status) over an Orthos Prime (base 10% crit, 15% status). Then there's the Jat Kittag which not only has incredible base damage among other stats (base 15% crit, 25% status), but also has a mod for scaling damage as well. 0 Epsik-kun
In short, currently it is probably the best melee weapon for around 90% of this game's content. In terms of going to "end-game" - depends on your definition of the end-game. You will be able to solo lvl 100 armored Grineer sortie survival with it, but at that point dual swords will be better. That obviously means, that going higher won't be Orthos' forte. For everything else - almost no contest here. Yes, Shimmering Blight is objectively the better stance. Bleeding Willow looks nice and is fun, but doesn't perform quite well.
0 (PSN)CoolD2108
It's a good offhand weapon but that's about it. The best weapon types are Heavy weapons (scindo, galatine, war-high multipliers, good damage, good range, decent crit) Daggers (medicore damage but covert lethality gives them quite a boost) And dual swords (very crit heavy) imo. The nikana prime is also on par as very fast mixed weapon but that's about it Just play what you like tho. Any melee weapon performs great with the right strategy! PRIMED REACH Add Primed Reach and kill enemies from half way across the map. I sometimes stand there and swing my Orthos Prime around acting more like a turret and watch enemies sliced in half by some magically invisible blade. One of my favorite CC melee weapons. 0 hukurokuju5
primed reach bloodrush bodycount organ shatter ( or lifestrike) maiming strike pressurepoint elemental elemental maxing bloodrush and primed reach could take a while for you if you are just starting out.
