When you say "glowing", do you mean when enemies you hit with his 1st power look like they are on fire with white flames around them? It just shows you that those enemies are inside the rift and you can't damage them with weapons if you yourself is outside the rift.

Limbo controls who goes in and out of this other dimension, called the Rift Plane. Since it is another dimension, you have to go into the same dimension to fight them with guns and the same goes for your enemies. One exception is that Warframe abilities can bypass dimensions and directly damage enemies at all times.

Here's how his powers work simplified:

  1. Banish forces 1 enemy or 1 ally into the rift plane. If enemy, it gets knocked down and damaged. If ally, they get free energy every second.
  2. Rift Walk makes Limbo (you) go inside the rift plane. You get free energy every second. Use this with power 1 and 4 to fight enemies you choose while enemies outside the rift cannot do anything to you.
  3. Rift Surge makes your weapons do more damage to enemies inside the rift plane. You can only benefit from this when using Limbo's other abilities (does nothing outside the rift)
  4. Cataclysm turns an entire area into a pocket dimension of the rift. You can walk in and out to enter or exit the rift, your allies and enemies as well; you can even protect objects with this. Use this with power 2 to stay outside the big bubble and kill enemies inside it.

Do you think any warframe with 5x damage multiplier is a bit under powered?

He´s not a frame who kills everything in the room just pressing 4, but he´s definitely a good choice for special purposes.

Try this:

Limbo + Sancti Tigris (or any other weapon that deals tons of damage)

press 2 (to be in rift walk). My build has more than 65 seconds.

press 3 to have the damage multiplier (it scales with strenght)

press 1 on every enemy you want to kill, shoot and enjoy he passive (50% faster reloaded speed while you are in the rift).

Tested in Sorties, no problem.

most people use limbo to ignore the world if the objective isn't killing:

- ignore the lasers/traps/everything in spy missions (especially on the orokin moon tileset)

- banish the rescue target, and don't give a damn about him any more (60+ seconds is usually enough to reach the extraction point)

- cataclism the terminal in mobile defense, cast rift surge and delete anything that comes in (mostly butchers/prod crewmen/other weak melee enemies)

situational? yes. underpowered? hell, no!

Another technique I've been using with Limbo is to use the Mutalist Cernos (modded for viral and high status) inside of Cataclysm. With Rift Surge active, the gas clouds will deal a lot of damage. Combine that with the fact that viral will be applied very quickly. Pop a Cataclysm and as enemies enter it, kill them with Mutalist Cernos. Then anyone who enters it afterward will be pretty much killed instantly as they come in contact with the gas clouds left behind. Stack the clouds for continuous extra damage. Your Cataclysm becomes a lethal gas chamber that no enemy will be leaving alive! Highly effective!

This also allows you to take cover against heavy onslaughts of incoming enemy waves while letting the gas do all the work. You can jump out of cover every once in a while to renew the gas clouds as needed.
